Comparative SCAPS-1D simulation of lead-based and lead-free 2D perovskite absorbers for high-efficiency solar cells Sagar Bhattarai, Shweta Dey, Abhinav Kumar, D. K. Dwivedi, Bhaben Tanti, Dibyendu Chowdhury, Suddhendu DasMahapatra Discover Applied Sciences, 2026 In recent studies, with the benefit of a highly stable quasi 2D Dion-Jacobson (DJ) phase, lead-iodide perovskite PeDAMA4Pb5I16 holds great potential to be employed in solar cells. The DJ structure is beneficial as it decreases van der Waals gaps between layers, enhancing stability. Though they are lead-based, they tend to have a wider bandgap, limiting light absorption and behaving more as an interfacial layer for defect passivation and CBO tuning. Thus, to overcome this drawback, the lead-free 2D perovskite material Cs2GeI2Br2 can provide a lower bandgap for improved absorption and enhanced photocurrent. Firstly, two structures have been simulated, both consisting of a single absorbent layer, PeDAMA4Pb5I16 and Cs2GeI2Br2, respectively. The latter one exhibited good performance in optoelectronic parameters such as J-V and QE, simulated with SCAPS-1D software. The outcomes obtained by optimizing the lead-based structure are a Power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 25.20% and a JSC of 18.25 mA/cm2. Whereas, after optimizing the lead-free structure, the achieved JSC is 27.10 mA/cm2, and PCE increased to 30.30%.
Proactive spectrum access using LSTM prediction in cognitive radio-enabled IoT systems Sakariya Harsh, Dibyendu Chowdhury, Madhusudan Maiti, Suddhendu DasMahapatra Proceedings of SPIE the International Society for Optical Engineering, 2026 Traditional spectrum sensing approaches of Cognitive Radio systems, being reactive in nature, often lead to excessive energy consumption, increased latency, and suboptimal throughput. This work presents a prediction-aided spectrum management framework that proactively forecasts spectrum occupancy, improving energy efficiency, throughput and responsiveness in IoT networks with cognitive radio capabilities. We propose a deep learning model based on a Long Short-Term Memory neural network to forecast the availability of spectrum from time-series data. The proposed model is simulated using MATLAB-Simulink. The performance of the system is evaluated based on the prominent sensing parameters, probability of detection and probability of false alarm, across a range of signal to noise ratios (SNRs). Simulation results establish that the proposed ML based model reliably detects spectrum holes with high detection rate at favorable SNR. Therefore, this framework paves the way for intelligent, adaptive, and energy-efficient spectrum management tools for large-scale IoT applications.

PDEPE: CMOS Implementation of Power and Delay Efficient Polar Encoder for Modern Communication Systems Sourav Kumar Das, Raj Kumar Maity, Jagannath Samanta, Dibyendu Chowdhury, Sudipta Bardhan, Heranmoy Maity Radioelectronics and Communications Systems, 2024 Polar codes are straightforward and effective channel codes for discrete memoryless channels with binary input. Due to its low encoding and decoding complexity, polar code has been embraced by the 5th Generation (5G) wireless communication systems as a channel coding scheme for control channels. In this paper, a low-power and fast polar encoder, namely, Power and Delay Efficient Polar Encoder (PDEPE), has been designed and implemented using 22nm CMOS technology. In this work, three fundamental parameters are considered to analyze the suggested design: supply voltage VDD, aspect ratio of NMOS transistor W/L, and the transconductance KPN. The suggested PDEPE design has been enhanced using a proposed optimization approach based on common sub-expression elimination methods. According to the synthesis results, the power delay product (PDP) of the proposed design is improved by 54, 40, and 44% respectively, with respect to VDD, (W/L), and KPN compared to related designs. The proposed design consumes less power and is faster than the conventional polar (8, 4) encoder. The proposed design is more suitable for modern communication systems like 5G.
A Novel Dielectric Modulated Gate-Stack Double-Gate Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor-Based Sensor for Detecting Biomolecules Dibyendu Chowdhury, Bishnu Prasad De, Bhargav Appasani, Navaneet Kumar Singh, Rajib Kar, Durbadal Mandal, Nicu Bizon, Phatiphat Thounthong Sensors, 2023 In this article, the performance of n-type junctionless (JL) double-gate (DG) MOSFET-based biosensors with and without gate stack (GS) has been studied. Here, the dielectric modulation (DM) method is applied to detect biomolecules in the cavity. The sensitivity of n-type JL-DM-DG-MOSFET and n-type JL-DM-GSDG-MOSFET-based biosensors have also been evaluated. The sensitivity (ΔVth) improved in JL-DM-GSDG MOSFET/JL-DM-DG-MOSFET-based biosensors for neutral/charged biomolecules is 116.66%/66.66% and 1165.78%/978.94%, respectively, compared with the previously reported results. The electrical detection of biomolecules is validated using the ATLAS device simulator. The noise and analog/RF parameters are compared between both biosensors. A lower threshold voltage is observed in the GSDG-MOSFET-based biosensor. The Ion/Ioff ratio is higher for DG-MOSFET-based biosensors. The proposed GSDG-MOSFET-based biosensor demonstrates higher sensitivity than the DG-MOSFET-based biosensor. The GSDG-MOSFET-based biosensor is suitable for low-power, high-speed, and high sensitivity applications.
