Earlier day's people with disability face lot of difficulty in communication due to neuromuscular attack. They are unable to share ideas and thoughts with others so they need some assist to overcome this condition. To overcome the condition, in this paper, we discussed the capabilities of designing electrooculogram (EOG)-based human computer interface (HCI) by ten subjects using power spectral density techniques and neural network. In this study, we compare the right hander performance with left hander performance. Outcomes of the study concluded that lefthander performance was marginally appreciated compared to right hander performance in terms of classification accuracy with an average accuracy of 93.38% for all left hand subjects and 91.38% for all the right subjects using probabilistic neural network (PNN) and also we analysed that during the training left handers were interestingly participated and also they can able to perform the following eleven tasks easily compared with right handers.
  • Predicting performance of schools by applying data mining techniques on public examination results
    J. Macklin Abraham Navamani, A. Kannammal
Research Journal of Applied Sciences Engineering and Technology, 2015
This study work presents a systematic analysis of various features of the higher grade school public examination results data in the state of Tamil Nadu, India through different data mining classification algorithms to predict the performance of Schools. Nowadays the parents always targets to select the right city, school and factors which contributes to the success of the results in schools of their children. There could be possible effects of factors such as Ethnic mix, Medium of study, geography could make a difference in results. The proposed work would focus on two fold factors namely Machine Learning algorithms to predict School performance with satisfying accuracy and to evaluate the data mining technique which would give better accuracy of the learning algorithms. It was found that there exist some apparent and some less noticeable attributes that demonstrate a strong correlation with student performance. Data were collected through the credible source data preparation and correlation analysis. The findings revealed that the public examinations results data was a very helpful predictor of performance of school in order to improve the result with maximum level and also improved the overall accuracy with the help of Adaboost technique.
  • Building multi-dimensional cube to analyze public examination results: A business intelligence approach
    J. Macklin Abraham Navamani, A. Kannammal, P. Ranjit Jeba Thangaiah
    Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
In recent years educational data mining and data warehouse has become one of the challenging research fields. It is used to turn the raw data available in educational field into actionable information. Educational data can provide improved understanding of students’ knowledge and better assessments of their progress. Educational data mining and warehousing could help educational government organizations in taking timely and data analysis based management decisions, thus contributing to gain competitive advantages in their successful policy framing. This paper focuses on the research activities for building data warehouse/data mart to store and analyze the public examination results of higher grade students by Directorate of Government Examinations belonging to Tamil Nadu, India. The data warehousing concept comprises of architectures, tools, and algorithms for bringing together data from various sources into a single repository and making it useful for the management to directly query and extract useful information for analysis. In this paper the need of data warehouse / business intelligence for a government educational organization has been explored.
