Digital geometry worksheets with an agro-tourism context: A catalyst for rational thinking in generation alpha Nyimas Aisyah, Hapizah Hapizah, Meryansumayeka Meryansumayeka, Siti Mistima Maat Infinity Journal, 2026 Implementing the Merdeka curriculum and strengthening character are necessary to foster rationalism in the Alpha generation, which is highly dependent on technology. One way is to develop geometry teaching materials based on the local agrotourism context, which has been proven effective in stimulating students' problem-solving skills. This study proposes to develop digital teaching materials on geometry content, grounded in the agritourism context, that are valid, practical, and effective in supporting students' rationalism in the Alpha generation in junior high school. The research method used is a design research type development study, consisting of 3 stages: the preparation phase, the prototyping phase, and the evaluation phase. The research subjects consisted of 80 seventh-grade students from SMPN 13 Palembang, representing Generation Alpha learners who are familiar with digital technology and visual-based learning. The study was conducted over one academic semester and followed the three stages of design research: preparation, prototyping, and evaluation. Data were collected through work-throughs, student interviews, and tests. The results show that digital worksheets are valid, practical, and effective, supporting students' rational thinking skills. The validity aspect was demonstrated through expert evaluations indicating that the digital worksheet met pedagogical and contextual standards, including content accuracy, alignment with learning objectives, clarity of instructions, contextual relevance, and technical presentation, with only minor revisions recommended. The practicality aspect emerged from the one-to-one and small-group trials, where students were able to use the worksheet independently, navigate the task flow clearly, and show positive engagement with the digital activities. Digital worksheets also have the following characteristics: they contain questions that encourage students to provide supporting reasons for their answers, are packaged in digital form, and are easy to use. The digital worksheets developed have been effective in supporting students' rationalism values.
Local instructional theory STEM: Integrating the context of football into parabola learning to support prospective teachers’ flexibility Tika Dwi Nopriyanti, Zulkardi Zulkardi, Ratu Ilma Indra Putri, Nyimas Aisyah Infinity Journal, 2026 Mathematics learning for prospective teachers frequently emphasizes procedural proficiency, while the development of mathematical flexibility, particularly the ability to shift representations and adapt problem-solving strategies, remains underdeveloped. This limitation is often associated with learning designs that insufficiently integrate STEM perspectives and meaningful real-world contexts. To address this issue, this study aims to develop a STEM-based Local Instructional Theory (LIT) using a football context to strengthen the mathematical flexibility of prospective mathematics teachers. The research employed a design research approach, a validation study type, conducted in two main phases: a pilot experiment and a teaching experiment. The learning design was iteratively refined through continuous reflection between the Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) and the Actual Learning Trajectory (ALT). Data were collected through classroom observations, learning videos, students’ written work, and documentation of instructional activities, and were analyzed qualitatively. The findings indicate that STEM-based learning grounded in a football context effectively enhances students’ representational and strategic flexibility, as evidenced by their ability to move among visual, numerical, and symbolic representations and to reflectively evaluate problem-solving strategies. The integration of digital tools such as Desmos and Kinovea further supported the visualization and validation of mathematical models. This study suggests that the developed LIT provides a contextual and innovative framework for improving mathematics teacher education.
The underlying physics concept of a soccer game as a catalyst for enhancing creative thinking skills Ida Sriyanti, Mardiah Afifa, Meilinda Meilinda, Anisya Sefina Puteri, Nyimas Aisyah, et al. International Journal of Evaluation and Research in Education, 2025 Teachers need to improve students’ creative thinking skills by incorporating relevant everyday contexts. Soccer, as a familiar part of daily life, has not been widely used in education, and its impact on creative thinking requires further study. This research aimed to develop a contextual physics e-module centered on soccer to enhance creative thinking in physics learning. The study followed Rowntree's development model, including planning, development, and evaluation, with Tessmer’s formative evaluation through expert reviews, one-on-one assessments, small-group evaluations, and field tests. The creative thinking indicators used in the research are fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Data were collected from 346 high school students in Palembang via walkthroughs, questionnaires, and written tests, then analyzed using SPSS version 16. The results showed that the soccer-based physics e-module is valid (Sig. 0.00), practical (one-to-one: 82.75%; small group: 91.00%), and in the moderate category for improving creative thinking (N-gain: 0.59). These findings highlight the need to explore other everyday contexts and assess the long-term impact of the e-module across different educational settings.
Personal factors shaping pre-service math and science teachers’ attitudes: An SEM study Nyimas Aisyah, Ismet Ismet, Cecil Hiltrimartin, Ida Sriyanti, Sary Silvhiany, et al. Cakrawala Pendidikan, 2024 Climate change demands urgent attention from both teachers and students. As pivotal agents of change, preservice teachers play a crucial role in shaping a generation that values and conserves the environment. This study investigated how academic background (mathematics/science vs. non-mathematics/science) influences preservice teachers' attitudes toward climate change and their value orientations. The study included 287 mathematics/science and 182 non-mathematics/science preservice teachers who completed a 50-item questionnaire. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze the gathered data. The findings indicated that academic background did not significantly influence preservice teachers' value orientations or attitudes toward climate change. This suggests the presence of other influential factors not examined in this study. Given these results, adopting a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to environmental education is imperative. Such an approach can better equip preservice teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively engage students in understanding and addressing climate change. Further research should focus on identifying these additional influencing factors. This will enable educators to refine environmental education strategies, fostering a future generation that values and actively contributes to environmental stewardship.
STEM-based 2D Shapes Learning Design in Parachuting Context to Support Student’s Flexibility Ability Belinda Ambarwati, Nyimas Aisyah, Hapizah, Norulhuda Ismail Mathematics Education Journal, 2024 This research aims to produce STEM-based 2D shapes learning trajectories in the context of parachuting to support students’ flexibility ability. The method chosen was design research type validation studies consisting of three stages: preparation for experiment, design experiment, and retrospective analysis conducted for two cycles. The research subjects were 7th grade junior high school students selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, written tests, and interviews, then analyzed qualitatively and presented in text narratives. The result of this study is a learning trajectory consisting of three activities, namely 1) making three square-shaped canopy designs with different sizes and the same suspension rope length, 2) making three square-shaped canopy designs with the same size and different suspension rope lengths, and 3) making three canopy designs in the form of different quadrilateral with the same canopy area and suspension rope length. The learning trajectory developed is able to support students' flexibility ability where in the learning process students are directed to realize the existence of alternative strategy choices or varied solutions, utilize various knowledge possessed, determine the most effective and efficient way or strategy, and believe in the truth of the answers used in solving problems.
PROVING GEOMETRY THEOREMS: STUDENT PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS’ PERSEVERANCE AND MATHEMATICAL REASONING Nyimas Aisyah, Ely Susanti, Meryansumayeka Meryansumayeka, Tatag Yuli Eko Siswono, Siti Mistima Maat Infinity Journal, 2023 Proof of geometry is a topic that involves mathematical reasoning abilities and relates to perseverance involving hard work, the spirit of achievement, and self-confidence. The current important problem that occurs at this time is that students who are future teachers of mathematics still experience difficulties in compiling proofs, especially those who are not challenged to work hard. This qualitative research explores mathematics teacher candidates' reasoning abilities and perseverance in proving geometric theorems. Therefore, the research design used a case study. There were three participants in this study, and they were student prospective mathematics teachers' s taking geometry courses. Data were collected through working documents, open questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews and were analyzed using iterative techniques consisting of data condensation, data exposure, and verification. The study's results showed that students' prospective teachers did not prioritize proof in solving geometry problems, even though they worked hard to solve the problems independently until they were finished. The students' perseverance also impacts their mathematical reasoning in proving geometric theorems. Students with more hard work values tend to have more reasoning values. The results of this study have implications that there needs to be an effort from the teacher to get used to giving proof questions to support students' perseverance and mathematical reasoning abilities.
