  • Biblical and theological understanding of the Word: הָָֽכ ָר ְּב in the Pentateuch
G.P. Harianto, Novita Loma Sahertian, Tony Salurante, and D. Ming

    Africajournals
The word "blessing" which first appears in the Bible is when Elohim blesses the creatures He created to reproduce and multiply in water and the air (Genesis 1:22). Elohim blessed humans to rule over nature and all creation (Genesis 1:28). Elohim blessed the Sabbath (Genesis 2: 3), he blessed people like Abraham (Genesis 12: 2-3; 18:18), Jacob (Genesis 28:14). Through Abraham, Elohim blesses his descendants and the nations. Blessings become ‘human life’ (Genesis 1:28). This research seeks to answer the questions: How does The Pentateuch speak of Elohim's Promise as a source of blessings? How does The Pentateuch speak of the authority of blessings? How does The Pentateuch speak of the purpose of a blessing? What about The Pentateuch is special? Talking about forms of blessing? How does The Pentateuch speak of the qualifications for blessings?. The results of Elohim's blessings can be divided into three major groups: (1) spiritual blessings are blessings related to powers that are beyond human strength, such as the blessing of salvation and the blessing of peace. (2) physical blessings are blessings that include physical needs (clothing, food, shelter, and health), such as blessings of long life, blessings of salvation, blessings of peace, blessings of flesh (blessings of long life, blessings of radiant faces), blessings of offspring, thanks to protection, thanks to wealth, thanks to prosperity, thanks to health, and thanks to honor. (3) The Blessing of Faith is a blessing given by Elohim because of his faith (belief; commitment), such as the blessing of obedience, the blessing of loving Elohim, the blessing of worshiping Elohim, and the blessing of influence.

  • The Advantages of Christianity in the Era of Disruption

Christianity is not just a slogan for the Christian community, but refers to the identity of one being a disciple of Jesus Christ. As a disciple of Christ, Christians live in the midst of family, their church, the world of work and broader society. This means that the expression ‘Christianity’ represents all Christians in all ages and in all places. Christianity shows that there is indeed a unity as one is a follower of Jesus and lives according to God's will. Indeed, in the past, humans have lost the glory of God and lived in sin. But because of His grace, God in His absolute sovereignty requires that everyone must believe in Him in order to obtain eternal life. God's grace poured out upon all Christians enables them to do God's will in often vexing times. This has been the hallmark of Christianity throughout the ages, including the current era of disruption. The first, and foremost advantage of being a Christian is that one belongs to Jesus. In Him, one has eternal life, and in this world, peace and joy that is in essence beyond anything the world can offer one. In Jesus believers have hope, and have the strength to face and defeat whatever comes their way, be it illness or even death. This brief article seeks to show in a modest manner that that every era has always had its own distinct and soul shattering challenges, but God gives excellence for every Christian to be able to adjust to His divine will so that His people have a positive impact on the family, their church, the world of work and the society where God places has placed them to serve. Believers must demonstrate their faith and this refers both to the their acts of trust and to the content of their faith. The Christian faith is having confidence in Jesus Christ in his ability to bring a believer through every difficult circumstance of life. Digital media technology must be used in the propagation of the faith as it offers endless opportunities, but also challenges.

  • Opus Dei: A Challenge for Church Leadership
G.P. Harianto, Sonny Herens Umboh, Areyne Christi, Suryowati Wang, Dorce Sondopen, and D. Ming

    Africajournals
Opus Dei (God's work) is all life in the world, but God's work has been tainted by human evil. Man tends to ignore God's justification. Opus Dei should be the mission of all believers, but especially the leaders in churches. The purpose of this article is to answer several questions including: What does justification mean in the Bible? What are the characteristics of leadership? How is Opus Dei in the world: A Doctrine of Justification Educational Challenge for Recipients of the Relay of Church Leadership? A literature study informed this work that demonstrated that: (1) Justification belongs to God and is given to man. God removes guilt and punishment for his sins. (2) The factors that influence the success of leadership are: being an effective leader, implementing Christian leadership, everyone being a leader, and deciding God-centered policies. (3) The Holy Bible justifies and bases the type of testimony it makes on church leadership. The Doctrine of Justification Education to receive the witness of the church is mandatory throughout one's life: (a) learning to know about the messages that God has sent through the Bible. (b) learning about the values of living in Opus Dei so that one can become a doer of the word. (c) learning to live together with the church. (d) learning to be yourself as a process of a leader as God's representative in the church. (e) A righteous life in God's eyes means that the church leader places himself in public view as a complete human being. He or she should not enter and become trapped in the secular world, bute master and use God's truth to develop His church ministry. A church leaders must lives in Opus Dei.

  • Reflection on the leadership practice of Saul as a failure of leadership for church pastors
    D. Ming

    University of the Free State
King Saul was a privileged man. He was especially privileged to be the first king of Israel. Samuel was opposed to the idea of having a king as he saw this as a rejection of himself and of God’s rule over Israel. However, God instructed Samuel to comply with the people’s request to have a king, but to inform them of how the king would conduct himself. Nevertheless, the people had made up their minds, and they would not let anything stop them from getting what they wanted (1 Samuel 8:11–20). God was not surprised by this. Saul was crowned king of Israel by Samuel. Saul was taller and handsomer than all of the Israelites. He seemed to be doing well until he started making mistakes. These mistakes led to his rejection by God, and to his suicide at Mount Gilboa during the fight against the Philistines (1 Samuel 31:4). Saul’s leadership may be an example of a failure of leadership for church pastors of today. This article aims to describe the failure of Saul in leading the nation of Israel and to provide an example for church leaders of today. Through the analysis of Saul’s leadership, a reflective analysis may be formed so that a transformation leadership model can be developed

  • Honor Dei as a learning of the need to appreciate God’s servants in the Church
GP Harianto, Benjamin Metekohy, Novita Sahertian, and David Ming

    Africajournals
Servants of God who serve in the Church use world standards to manage the church. This research sought to find answers regarding the characteristics of honor Dei (God's honor), service learning in the Church, and honor Dei as learning the need for respect from the Servant of God in the Church. This study used literature research and its findings were: (1) Honor Dei comes from God. Ministers of the faith must honor God in what you do. John 14:21 says, “Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me.” The values of God's honor: grace from God, purity of Faith, teaching love, and preaching the Gospel. So the value of Dei's honorarium must become a curriculum in the church. (2) Service learning in the Church means ecclesiastical learning to see the behavior or character of the association of believers in God's deeds. (3) Learning honor Dei as learning the need for respect from God's servants is not serving in the church with the objective of gaining worldly honor but one is rather is obliged to live out God's honor within himself or herself: (a) learning the lifestyle of the purity of faith of God's servants. (b) learning the honorary lifestyle of God's servants in teaching love, (c) learning the honorary lifestyle of God's servants in church service, and (d) learning the honorary lifestyle of God's servants as preachers of the Gospel. The implications are that with the formulation of honor Dei learning, God's servant in managing the church use God's touch of honor and can become an example for the spiritual growth of the congregation by doing certain things and living a certain way that is pleasing to God. This means inter alia, learning the honorary lifestyle of God's servants in teaching love; learning the honorary lifestyle of God's servants in church service; learning the honorary lifestyle of God's servants as preachers of the Holy Gospel.

  • The role of the Holy Spirit for Church Believers in the Hermeneutic context between Biblical Authority, Illumination and Interpretation
Moses Wibowo, Jamin Tanhidy, and David Ming

    AFRICAJOURNALS
The Bible emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit which is so important for Church believers because through it, Church believers can become new creations and offer ministry for their churches. The role of the Holy Spirit is included in terms of interpreting the Bible. This article discusses and answers the question of what is the role of the Holy Spirit in the realm of hermeneutics. First, the role of the Holy Spirit in the relationship with the inspiration of the Bible makes the Bible authoritative. Second, showing the role of the Holy Spirit that illuminates one when interpreting the Bible. Third, it shows that the Holy Spirit plays a pivotal role in guiding each interpreter to live in the work of sanctification. The goal of the role of the Holy Spirit in these three relationships is to make Church believers more like Christ before His second coming. The role of the Holy Spirit is one of the basic life needs for Church believers, especially in the hermeneutic context between biblical authority, illumination, and interpretation. The findings of this study indicated that the role of the Holy Spirit in these three areas or contexts of biblical authority, illumination, and interpretation is to make Church believers more Christ-like before His return.

  • Mission Theology in the context of a Multiple Society
    David Ming and Muner Daliman

    AFRICAJOURNALS
This study aims to examine the mission theology in the context of multiple or pluralistic society. The context of a multiple society is in Indonesia and it is contextual perspective challenge. In the results of the study, the results show that being a witness of God and having a dialogue in the context of a multiple society to preach the gospel is challenging. The question for Evangelical Christians is how to remain loyal to the Great Commission. There needs to be a proportionalBiblical theological basis on how the text/message of the Bible can be implemented in such a context. We believe that God's Word, including the Great Commission must be preached to all the world. Starting from the above background, this paper offers: 1) An explanation of some terms and problem limitations, 2) Mission Theology and contextualization in Indonesia as a plural society, and the implementation of Mission Theology on Contextualization in this society.

  • TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP IN THE PERSONALITY, PERFORMANCE AND COMMITMENTS OF THEOLOGICAL HIGH SCHOOL ORGANIZATIONS

  • The concept of time management based on ephesians 5:15–17 and relevance to contemporary christian leaders
Tonny Andrian, David Ming, G.P. Harianto, and Muner Daliman

    AOSIS
Generally, it is common knowledge that humans have the same time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 31 days a month, 365 days per year, but most of them do not know how to manage time and manage it to be something useful and effectively. That is because many people do not have the discipline in filling time. Those days are filled with things that are not directed, even worse is that filling the time of his or her life with things that damage life. Even though wasting time is not unwise because it is a waste of the opportunity God has given and the time that has passed will not return, meaning that if the opportunity is not used, then the opportunity will be lost. How important is to redeem the time, especially for contemporary Christian leaders because all must be accountable to God. This study uses a research library. Library research is a literature study that is carried out by using relevant and available reading sources related to the topics discussed in the research. Books or journal articles related to the topics discussed are used as sources of reading to better understand time management and its application at the personal and organisational levels. From the various reading sources used, the writer develops this scientific article, including giving comments or critical comments that are conveyed in various parts of the writing, especially in the conclusions. Contribution: Time management is one of the basic skills needed to be successful in life, especially for contemporary Christian leaders. The findings of various studies based on Ephesians 5:15–17 indicated that time management enabled organisations or churches to learn to survive in the face of competition and resulted in success as Christian leaders.
