The Effectiveness of Character Strengths-Based Peer Counseling in Fostering Psychological Well-Being in Islamic Boarding Schools Muslikah Muslikah, Dwi Yuwono Puji Sugiharto, Ashari Mahfud, Afriyadi Sofyan, Lailawati Madlan Endalan, Abi Fa’izzarahman Prabawa Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal, 2026 Low psychological well-being and elevated help-seeking behaviors among students in Islamic boarding schools underscore the necessity for effective psychological support systems. This study assesses the effectiveness of a character strengths-based peer counseling intervention in enhancing students' psychological well-being within Islamic boarding school settings. Grounded in the principles of positive psychology and aligned with Islamic educational values, the intervention emphasizes five core character strengths (gratitude, hope, zest, curiosity, and love) delivered through a peer counseling framework. Employing a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design, the study involved 81 first-year students (ages 13-17) from three pesantren in Semarang, randomly assigned to experimental (n = 45) and control (n = 36) groups. The Psychological Well-Being Scale (Ryff, 1989) was used to measure six dimensions of well-being. Data were analyzed via Two-Way ANOVA to evaluate the intervention's impact over time. Results indicated significant improvements in psychological well-being within the experimental group (p < .01), with a notable post-test mean score increase of 13.53 points, interaction effect with η²p = 0.049. This value approaches the moderate category. These findings substantiate that character strengths-based peer counseling is an effective and culturally appropriate intervention for promoting mental health in faith-based educational environments. The study contributes to applying positive psychology in non-Western contexts, emphasizing the potential of peer-led models to enhance adolescents' emotional resilience, interpersonal relationships, and religious character development. The study's limitations and potential directions for future research are also discussed to improve the generalizability and sustainability of the intervention.
Supervision outcome of professional education of school counselors in-service training Afriyadi Sofyan, Nur Hidayah, Bambang Budi Wiyono, M. Ramli Ciencias Psicologicas, 2024 Professionalization efforts for school counselors through professional education, which are strengthened by supervision during the educational process, aim to improve their clinical and multicultural competence, which is essential in providing guidance and counseling services in schools. Using a quantitative approach and the Supervision Outcome Scale analyzed using the Rasch model, this study examined supervision conducted by university and field supervisors of internship counselors. The results showed that supervision outcomes were in the moderate category in competency development. However, a closer look revealed variations in the level of difficulty of item agreement based on supervisors' perspectives. The study also highlighted challenges in achieving maximum supervision outcomes, including limited internship time. While this study provides important insights into supervision outcomes, limitations such as using a quantitative approach may only partially capture the complexity of the supervision process. Recommendations for future research include using qualitative methods, exploring other factors that reveal supervision outcomes, and researching the impact of internship duration on counselor competency development.
ChatGPT educates college students about sexual violence and its impact on their mental health: A proposal Sisca Folastri, I M Hambali, M Ramli, Sa’dun Akbar, Afriyadi Sofyan Journal of Public Health United Kingdom, 2023 ChatGPT can be, as an interactive information platform, used to facilitate learning about the psychological effects of sexual violence. Development and Preliminary Validation of a Scale to Measure Sexual Violence Awareness using the Rasch Model Folastri, Sisca, Hambali, IM, Ramli, M., Akbar, Sa`'Dun, Sofyan, Afriyadi Psychology Hub, 2023 This study develops a sexual violence awareness scale (ID-SVAS) using the Rasch Model, as well as assessing its validity and reliability. This developed scale was tried out on 1022 respondents consisting of students, lecturers, and college employees. In this study, the Rasch Model was used to measure the psychometric properties of the 14 items of the SVA scale through WINSTEPS 3.73. Our analysis results indicate that the developed sexual violence awareness measurement tool has good validity and reliability. Therefore, this scale be relied upon to measure sexual violence awareness experienced by respondents. This research is expected to present significant impacts in developing an accurate and reliable measurement tool to measure sexual violence awareness among university students in Indonesia, designing educational programs and social campaigns to increase sexual violence awareness.

Measuring of student learning performance based on geometry test for middle class in elementary school using dichotomous Rasch analysis S Solihatun, I B Rangka, D Ratnasari, A Radyati, Y Siregar, L Wulansari, A Sofyan, I Ifdil, R Rahim Journal of Physics Conference Series, 2019 Understanding of geometry concept properly and precisely can stimulate students to representing and expressing the world around in orderly order. This study was designed to measure student’s ability in answered geometry exam. The study involved 186 students in elementary school. Data collected based on the results of midterm examination; conducted in March 2018 and analysed using dichotomous Rasch model approach. The results of this study show that overall the students ability in identifying the number of sides in geometry image is fascinating. Unfortunately, students get it difficult to work on narrative test in geometry. It is clearly recognized that students experience difficulties in explaining and determining the circumference and square area, rectangular and triangular and second-rank relations with square roots. Furthermore, there are excellent students taking on geometry questions on certain competency requirements; and there are students failed to finish geometry exam properly. The quality of tests applied to students in mathematics exams is also a substantial issue into the discussion on this article. The findings of this research can be a substantial input for classroom teachers in developing suitable geometry learning methods and dealing with the issues linked to students’ ability to learn geometry in elementary schools.
Measuring psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the NoMoPhobia Questionnaire (NMPQ): Insight from Rasch measurement tool I B Rangka, W E Prasetyaningtyas, I Ifdil, Z Ardi, K Suranata, E Winingsih, A Sofyan, M Irawan, P Arjanto, R Muslifar, R S Wijaya Journal of Physics Conference Series, 2018 Mobile phone and human interaction can be a problematic mental health issue for individuals. Several studies have developed the instruments and/or psychologist scale to identify these problems. This study was designed to translated and validate by measuring psychometric properties of NoMoPhobia Questionnaire (NMPQ) on Indonesian version. The study used survey method and collected from March to May 2018 and involved 520 Indonesian participants. In this study Rasch Model was used to measure the psychometrics properties of the 20 items of the Indonesian version of NMPQ. The results of this study showed that the Indonesian version of NMPQ fulfilled by evidence as a valid and robust research instrument because of its psychometric properties and internal consistencies. The implications of this research NMPQ can be accepted by the researchers for data collection or information linked to the problem of NoMoPhobia in Indonesia.
