Adoption of Regenerative Agricultural Practices among Maize-Based Farmers in Kwara State, Nigeria Latifat Kehinde Olatinwo, Sola Emmanuel Komolafe, Gbolagade Benjamin Adesiji, Gabriel Paul Journal of Agricultural Extension, 2026 This study examined the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices (RAPs) among maize based farmers in Kwara State, Nigeria. A multistage sampling procedure was used in collecting data from 158 maize-based farmers using interview schedule. Data were analysed using percentage, mean and multiple regression. The findings revealed that the respondents were aware of RAPs, yet adoption was moderate. Access to loans (β =3.314) and higher RAPs knowledge scores (β =3.055) significantly increased adoption, while greater years of farming experience (β = –0.093) reduced it at p<0.05 level. The study conclude that farmers moderately adopt RAPs but insufficient enabling conditions, such as insecurity and limited extension services hindered the uptake in Kwara State. Strengthening credit access, improving extension delivery, and security barriers are essential to accelerate widespread adoption of regenerative practices and enhance sustainable maize production in Kwara State.
Knowledge and competence of agricultural extension field workers in farmer-group facilitation in kwara state, nigeria Kemi Funmilayo Omotesho, Blessing Akinola-Soji, Gbolagade Benjamin Adesiji, Oluwasanjo Biodun Owojaiye Acta Universitatis Agriculturae Et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2021 The weakness of most farmer-groups in Nigeria has been linked to poor group facilitation by field agricultural extension workers. The study assessed the knowledge and competence of extension officers in group facilitation. A two-stage random sampling technique was used to select 174 farmers on which a structured interview schedule was administered. A questionnaire was administered on all 69 field extension workers in the study area. Descriptive statistics, regression analysis, Pearson's Product Moment Correlation and t-test were used for data analyses. Results reveal that 65.2% of extension workers had good knowledge of group facilitation. Farmers rated extension workers lower (mean = 2.36) than the workers rated themselves in group facilitation (means = 3.12). Work experience of extension workers and their access to training in group dynamics significantly influenced workers' competence at P < 0.05. There was a significant relationship between the knowledge and competence of extension workers at p < 0.05 (r = 0.843). The study assessed extension workers' competence in group facilitation using both self and farmers' assessments, identifying specific areas of deficiencies in knowledge and competence.

Impact of Agricultural Extension Services on Cocoyam Production in Ogun State, Nigeria F. I. Olagunju, G. B. Adesiji Journal of Agricultural and Food Information, 2011 This study measured the impact of extension services on cocoyam production in Ogun State by comparing the output of farmers visited by extension workers (FV) with those not visited (FNV). A multistage sampling technique was used to select 90 farmers. Data were analyzed by means of both descriptive and inferential statistics. The regression result for the cocoyam production model revealed that FNV also enjoyed the benefits of extension services through their interaction with FV or cooperative societies in the study area in what could be termed a “trickle down” effect. These findings suggest that extension can help to close the gap between the output attainable with existing technologies and those actually realized by farmers.

Farmers' assessment of extension services in Ogun state, Nigeria G. B. Adesiji, A. O. Akinsorotan, D. F. Omokore Journal of Agricultural and Food Information, 2010 This study examined farmers’ assessment of extension services in Ogun State, Nigeria. One hundred and twenty respondents were randomly selected and an interview schedule was used to collect data. Frequency distribution, percentages, chi-square, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation were used to analyze the data. The results revealed that more than half of the farmers (55%) fall within the age range of 40–59, most are female (66.7%), 70% have some level of formal education, and the majority (80%) had more than 10 years of experience with more than one farm location. A high percentage (90.0%) had frequent contact with extension agents, but less than half (49.2%) acknowledged extension services to be effective. Extension agents should be equipped with necessary materials and training in order to improve their services.
