Journal of Education for Library and Information Science, 2025
This study aimed to investigate the perspectives of Nigerian library and information science (LIS) professionals regarding the implications of the disruptive era on their profession. A mixed-methods approach was employed, and data were collected through a semi-structured questionnaire distributed via the WhatsApp platform owned by the Nigerian Library and Information Association (NLA). The target population consisted of 5,900 LIS professionals in Nigeria. To ensure accessibility, purposive sampling techniques were utilized to identify suitable participants and snowball techniques were employed to connect with a WhatsApp forum owned by the NLA and reach potential participants. A total of 376 responses were used for data analysis. The study revealed that the disruptive era presents both challenges and opportunities for the Nigerian LIS profession, with technological advancements and changes in user behaviour being significant factors. Continuous learning and development of new skills, particularly in digital competencies, were recommended for LIS professionals. Furthermore, the study emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnerships in addressing the profession's challenges in Nigeria. These findings contribute to the existing literature on the impact of disruptive technologies on the LIS profession in Nigeria and provide insights that can inform policies and practices for LIS professionals in the country.

    Business Information Review, 2023
The evolution of metaverse libraries offers a transformative pathway for redefining knowledge systems in the digital age. This study delves into the seamless integration of enduring library principles with the expansive capabilities of the metaverse, envisioning a harmonious coexistence that preserves traditional library values while propelling knowledge dissemination, inclusivity, and collaboration to new heights. Real-world case studies provide valuable insights into successful metaverse library implementations and offer lessons for future endeavors. By seamlessly merging traditional library attributes with immersive digital experiences, metaverse libraries can offer tailored learning journeys, foster global collaboration, and ensure secure content distribution. However, the landscape is not without challenges, such as privacy concerns, digital literacy gaps, and the imperative of inclusivity, all of which require thoughtful interdisciplinary collaboration. This evolution underscores the significance of preserving the essence of physical libraries while embracing the potential of the metaverse. Through adept navigation of these complexities, metaverse libraries have the capacity to revolutionize education, nurture collaboration, and ensure equitable access to knowledge in a dynamic and interconnected digital landscape.

    Record and Library Journal, 2021
Background of study: Preservation and conservation of the cultural, social and technical context of our heritage are germane. Purpose: The study examined the preservation and conservation of information resources in selected private university libraries in South-west Nigeria. Eight (8) selected private universities in South-west, Nigeria with the population consisted of one hundred thirty-seven respondents which comprised of library professionals and para-professionals. Method: The study employed a survey research design and random sampling technique.
