The cellular uptake of IO NPs plays a crucial role in their efficacy as anticancer agents . In this case, IO NPs cellular uptake depends on physical and chemical parameters , including size, shape, and surface modification of the nanoparticles. From the cellular uptake, one of the essential parameters for small size plays a critical role in the NPs' due to their ability to passively diffuse across the cell membrane or enter cells through endocytosis . In this study, the inorganic SnO 2 (tin dioxide) and SA (sodium alginate) were made into SnO 2 (SASnO 2 ) using a simple one-pot green method. Biomedical studies have shown that SASnO 2 NPs exhibit greater antibacterial, antioxidant, and anticancer properties than SnO 2 NPs. The prepared SnO 2 and SASnO 2 NPs were tested against breast cancer cells in anticancer studies. In cellular uptake studies, the smaller size of SASnO 2 NPs (19 nm) resulted in higher cellular uptake compared to SnO 2 NPs (38 nm). The larger surface area of these SASnO 2 NPs allows for more contact with biological membranes and internalization (cell uptake) by cancer cells, resulting in enhanced anticancer therapy when using SASnO 2 NPs.
Nanorod-like Structure of ZnO Nanoparticles and Zn8O8 Clusters Using 4-Dimethylamino Benzaldehyde Liquid to Study the Physicochemical and Antimicrobial Properties of Pathogenic Bacteria Sivalingam Ramesh, C. Afsar, Arumugam Sivasamy, Young-Jun Lee, Joo-Hyung Kim, Heung Soo Kim Nanomaterials, 2023 To study their physicochemical and antimicrobial properties, zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using a simple chemical route and 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (4DB) as an organic additive. ZnO nanoparticles were characterized with XRD analysis, which confirmed the presence of a hexagonal wurtzite structure with different crystalline sizes. The SEM morphology of the synthesized nanoparticles confirmed the presence of nanorods in both modifications of ZnO nanoparticles. EDS analysis proved the chemical composition of the synthesized samples via different chemical approaches. In addition, the optical absorption results indicated that the use of 4DB increased the band gap energy of the synthesized nanoparticles. The synthesized Zn8O8 and Zn8O8:4DB clusters were subjected to HOMO–LUMO analysis, and their ionization energy (I), electron affinity (A), global hardness (η), chemical potential (σ), global electrophilicity index (ω), dipole moment (μ), polarizability (αtot), first-order hyperpolarizability (βtot), and other thermodynamic properties were determined. Furthermore, the antimicrobial properties of the ZnO nanoparticles were studied against G+ (S. aureus and B. subtilis) and G− (K. pneumoniae and E. coli) bacteria in a nutrient agar according to guidelines of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).
