Ana Lúcia Pastore Schritzmeyer is an anthropologist, lawyer and a professor in the Department of Anthropology (University of São Paulo, USP, Brazil). Coordinates the Anthropology of Law Center (NADIR – Núcleo de Antropologia do Direito – USP) and the Ethics Committee on Research with Human Beings of the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences of USP (CEP-FFLCH-USP). She works in the anthropology of law area with the: jury trials, jurisprudence and narratives of violence, human rights, demands for recognition of rights, access to justice, professional and professions of law, criminal justice systems, and criminology.
EDUCATION
At the University of São Paulo (USP) she graduated in Social Sciences (1986) and in Law (1988), completed a Master's (1994) and Doctorate (2002) in Social Anthropology and, in 2003, became a professor at the Department of Anthropology and the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology. She has been a university professor since 1988 and joined the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-SP) in 1989.

FUTURE PROJECTS
Getting to know the Brazilian Federal Jury Court
Despite the many studies on the Jury Court in Brazil, there is a gap in relation to the Juries that take place within the scope of Federal Justice and, therefore, on intentional crimes against life, and others related to them, committed: 1. against or by a federal public official in the exercise of his or her duties, 2. in disputes over indigenous rights and 3. on board a ship or aircraft, subject to the jurisdiction of the Military Court (CF, 1988: art. 109, I, II, IV and IX). In an exploratory stage (first phase of the research) the idea is to create a database on the Federal Jury to be, in the next stage (second phase), perfected and fed, retrospectively and continuously. This will lead to the third stage (final phase) in which a Federal Jury Observatory will be created, capable of providing public information, both past and present, about the institution.

Este texto apresenta uma etnografia realizada durante uma sessão do 1º Tribunal do Júri da cidade de São Paulo, em maio de 2008. Sua análise tem como meta contribuir para reflexões críticas sobre o assustador crescimento de desejos punitivos e de demandas por lei e ordem em nome da segurança de “cidadãos de bem”, o que, frequentemente, se dá em detrimento da própria lei e em função da força seletiva de marcadores sociais como gênero, raça e poder socioeconômico. No julgamento em questão, uma jovem, à época com 26 anos de idade, foi condenada a 26 anos e 2 meses de reclusão por omissão na tortura e homicídio de sua filha. A menina foi morta em julho de 2004, aos 5 anos idade, pelo companheiro da mãe, um policial julgado meses antes e condenado a 40 anos de reclusão pela autoria desses mesmos crimes. Apesar das dúvidas legais sobre a cumplicidade da ré na morte da filha, ela foi condenada por sua “moral sexual”, considerada incompatível com a de uma “boa mãe”. - Because a portfolio focused on the anthropology of law?
