The meticulous process of documenting the sources, distribution networks, and consumption patterns of water plays an indispensable role in ensuring that this vital resource is managed sustainably and efficiently. As global populations grow and urbanize, the demand for reliable water supply systems has never been greater. This has put a spotlight on the need for sophisticated water supply mapping techniques that leverage advancements in technology and data analytics to address the myriad challenges faced by communities around the world[1].
Exploring the Synergy of Cybersecurity and Blockchain: Strengthening Digital Defenses Mohan Kumar Dehury, Bhabendu Kumar Mohanta, Manorama Patnaik, Biresh Kumar, Purushottam Kumar Next Generation Systems and Secure Computing, 2025 The integration of cybersecurity and blockchain technology is a promising strategy for improving digital defenses in today's unstable digital environments. Blockchain's decentralized nature, immutability, cryptographic methods, and transparency offer a strong barrier against unauthorized alterations or tampering, ensuring data integrity and preventing bad actors from modifying or tampering with sensitive information. The built-in cryptographic protocols ensure secure data transmission and storage. Blockchain technology also has the potential to transform cybersecurity in areas such as identity management and access control, allowing individuals to have more control over their personal information and reducing the risk of identity theft and illegal access. However, scaling, interoperability, and regulations remain challenging. The integration of blockchain and cybersecurity offers great promise for enhancing digital defenses, but it requires addressing the issues of scaling, interoperability, and regulation. Exploring the overlap between cybersecurity and blockchain is crucial for creating robust and secure digital ecosystems. This chapter examines the possibilities of blockchain technology and cybersecurity in enhancing digital defenses. The decentralized nature, immutability, cryptographic methods, and transparency of blockchain improve data storage, identity management, and forensics. However, scaling, interoperability, and regulation issues must be addressed to ensure robust digital ecosystems.
Protecting IoT-Enabled Healthcare Data at the Edge: Integrating Blockchain, AES, and Off-Chain Decentralized Storage Bhabendu Kumar Mohanta, Ali Ismail Awad, Mohan Kumar Dehury, Hitesh Mohapatra, Muhammad Khurram Khan IEEE Internet of Things Journal, 2025 Over the past two decades, the rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) has begun to transform traditional healthcare systems into intelligent systems; however, hospitals have encountered challenges in securely storing patient data within centralized architectures due to their lack of efficiency and security features. Blockchain technology offers a secure and reliable decentralized framework for storing and sharing healthcare data among various stakeholders, including patients, doctors, nurses, insurance companies, and pharmaceutical firms. In this article, we propose a blockchain-based data-protection scheme deployed at edge nodes. The proposed scheme uses the interplanetary file system (IPFS) model to address storage and data-protection issues in an IoT-edge-enabled smart healthcare system. First, the security issues in smart healthcare systems are identified, and the impact of these issues on patient privacy and hospital infrastructure is considered. Then, a technique based on the 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard is proposed to encrypt patient information and store it in an IPFS-based decentralized network. Edge-computing techniques are used to perform computations at the edge level within a decentralized architecture, thereby addressing the computational challenges associated with cloud computing. Lastly, the encryption keys are stored using blockchain technology to address the issue of restricted computational power on low-end devices through off-chain and on-chain business processes. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves a key management time of 0.2 ms, file retrieval time of 0.57 s, throughput of 0.11 Mb/s, encryption time of 1.96 ms, and decryption time of 1.91 ms. These findings indicate that the proposed scheme outperforms previously reported approaches with respect to key management time, file retrieval efficiency, and its potential for edge deployment and off-chain capabilities. Consequently, the proposed scheme is highly suited for efficiently securing patient data within IoT-enabled smart healthcare systems.

CNN: A fundamental unit of new age AI Mohan Kumar Dehury, Ronit Kumar Gupta, Tannisha Kundu Digital Technologies in Modeling and Management Insights in Education and Industry, 2024 The field of artificial intelligence (AI) is very promising with the emergence of machine learning and deep learning algorithms. The rise of convolutional neural networks (CNN) is very propitious in deep learning as it is more accurate and powerful than previously known soft computational models like artificial neural networks (ANN) and recurrent neural networks (RNN). CNN is ANN with steroids. These soft computational models are inspired by biological models that give an approximate solution to image-driven pattern recognition problems. The near perfect precision of CNN models offers a better way to recognize patterns and solve real-world problems and provide approximate solutions which are near precision. These technologies have enhanced the trust with humans. Its results have been accepted widely. This chapter aims to provide brief information about CNNs by introducing and discussing recent papers published on this topic and the methods employed by them to recognize patterns. This chapter also aims to provide information regarding dos and don'ts while using different CNN models.
Decentralized Consensus Protocol for Securing IoT Networks Using Blockchain Technology Bhabendu Kumar Mohanta, Mohan Kumar Dehury, Phani Kumar Solleti, Soumyashree S Panda 8th International Conference on I Smac Iot in Social Mobile Analytics and Cloud I Smac 2024 Proceedings, 2024 The Internet of Things (IoT) presents unique security and privacy challenges due to the diversity of devices and resource limitations. Traditional security protocols may not be directly applicable to IoT applications, which often rely on centralized architectures. To address these challenges, this research proposes a blockchain-based collaborative decision-making approach. Blockchain technology offers a secure and decentralized platform for storing and managing data, ensuring data integrity and preventing unauthorized access. By integrating blockchain, the proposed framework enables collaborative decision-making processes among IoT devices, ensuring precise and reliable outcomes. This approach addresses the issue of trust and malicious behavior among nodes in a distributed environment. This research contributes to the development of secure and trustworthy IoT applications, enabling user confidence and enabling the widespread adoption of IoT technologies.

The integration of IoT with a social platform for different services become an emerging research field in recent times. In this paper, the authors investigated the impact of social services in IoT and its corresponding decentralized architecture. The paper also identified the security challenges associated with the Social IoT and trust issues. Finally, the paper addresses some of the emerging technologies which are capable of addressing the security challenges in Social IoT.
Defending against Co-Resident Attacks in Multi-Datacenter Environments Soumya Snigdha Mohapatra, Rakesh Ranjan Kumar, Mohan Kumar Dehury, Sujit Bebortta, Devismita Sahoo 2024 1st International Conference on Cognitive Green and Ubiquitous Computing IC Cgu 2024, 2024 With cloud computing, customers can use a variety of computing resources whenever they need them without having to worry about maintenance. But security is one of the main issues with cloud computing. Making the move to the cloud presents end users with new security problems, especially because of shared resources that are available to other users. This study focuses on the colocation or co-resident attack, a malicious strategy in which attackers use backdoors to steal sensitive data from Virtual Machine (VM)s housed on the same server. The study investigates detection and prevention techniques for co-resident attacks. Our focus is on the Previously Selected Servers First (PSSF) VM allocation policy, which was selected because it can offer increased security while using less energy to address this problem. Later, we extend this PSSF to study its impact on the Multi-data center environment.
