  • TRIBOLOGICAL BEHAVIOUR OF CROSS-SHAPED DIMPLES ON SLIDING SURFACES UNDER HYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICATION
    Hardik Gangadia, Saurin Sheth
    Acta Mechanica Et Automatica, 2024
This study reports on the tribological behaviour of sliding surfaces having cross-shaped micro-dimples on a surface. One wall is smooth and moving at a constant speed against the other fixed wall with dimples. The laser machine helps to create the desired dimples on the surface of the fixed wall. For the purpose of generating hydrodynamic pressure and tribological behaviour, the effects of cross-shaped dimples and oriented cross-shaped dimples have been compared with circular-shaped dimples. Additionally, the impact of sliding speed, dimple area density and depth on tribological behaviour was examined. The findings show that compared with a circular-shaped dimple, an unconventional cross-shaped and orientated cross-shaped dimple generates a higher net hydrodynamic pressure in the fluid domain and offers superior stability between the sliding surfaces. It has been demonstrated that geometrical factors like dimple depth and area density as well as operational factors like sliding speed have a substantial impact on the hydrodynamic average pressure and tribological behaviour of sliding surfaces. The experimental findings indicate that, for the same geometric and operating parameters, cross- and orientated cross-shaped dimples have a 20%–25% lower friction coefficient between the sliding surfaces than circular dimples. The results of the experiment support those of the analysis and CFD.

  • Optimization for Injection Molding Process Parameters Using Artificial Neural Network: A Critical Review
    Amit Panchal, Saurin Sheth
    Aip Conference Proceedings, 2023
There has been a lot of research in recent years into employing optimization approaches to improve artificial intelligence (AI). In this research review paper, we have compared and contrast some of the most usual optimization algorithms, such as Backtracking searching method (BSA), the genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), an artificial bee colony (ABC), and the genetic algorithm, which are all artificial neural networks (ANNs) -based algorithms. The number of recently developed optimization techniques, such as the lightning search algorithm (LSA) and the whale optimization algorithm (WOA) are also compared. All the techniques are categorized based on randomly generated populations. To produce the best possible results, the processing parameters are set within a certain range according to their knowledge. This review paper emphasis on applying optimization techniques to improve the accuracy of simply adjusting the parameters of the neural network. This review paper also presents some results for enhancing neural network performance using various optimization techniques like PSO, GA, and ABC optimization methods to get optimal processing parameters, such as the number of hidden layers, neurons and learning rate etc. The findings of this research review paper will aid in the improvement in the quality of plastic injection molded parts.
  • The Effect of Star Shaped Dimples on Sliding Surfaces under Hydrodynamic Lubrication
    Hardik Gangadia, Saurin Sheth
    Tribology Online, 2023
Tribological behaviour of sliding surfaces with star shaped micro-dimples on one of the surface is reported. One wall is smooth and sliding on the other fixed dimpled wall with constant velocity. Effect of star shaped dimple and oriented star shaped dimple has been compared with circular shaped dimple for hydrodynamic pressure generation and tribological behaviour. Effect of dimple depth, dimple area density and sliding speed on tribological behaviour were also analyzed. The results demonstrate that an unconventional star-shaped and orientated star-shaped dimple produces a larger net hydrodynamic pressure in the fluid domain and provides better stability between the sliding surfaces than a circular-shaped dimple. It is shown that geometric parameters like dimple depth and dimple area density and operation parameter like sliding speed affects the hydrodynamic average pressure and tribological behaviour of sliding surfaces significantly. The experimental findings validate the analytical and CFD findings.
  • Influence of the Bowtie Shaped Dimples on the Performance of Sliding Surfaces under Hydrodynamic Lubrication
    Hardik Gangadia, Saurin Sheth
    Tribologia, 2023
It covers the tribological behaviour of sliding surfaces, one of which has bowtie-shaped micro-dimples. Against the other fixed, textured wall, one wall is smooth and moving at a constant speed. For the formation of hydrodynamic pressure and tribological behaviour, the effects of bowtie-shaped dimples and orientated bowtie-shaped dimples have been compared with circular-shaped dimples. Additionally, the impact of sliding speed, dimple area density, and dimple depth on tribological behaviour was examined. The findings show that compared to a circular-shaped dimple, an atypical bowtie-shaped and orientated bowtie-shaped dimple generates a higher net hydrodynamic pressure in the fluid domain and offers improved stability between the sliding surfaces. It has been demonstrated that geometrical factors like dimple depth and area density as well as operational factors like sliding speed have a substantial impact on the hydrodynamic average pressure and tribological behaviour of sliding surfaces. The experimental results support the conclusions from the analysis and CFD.
  • Implementing Fuzzy Logic Controller and PID Controller to a DC Encoder Motor - "a case of an Automated Guided Vehicle"
Priyam Parikh, Saurin Sheth, Rupesh Vasani, Jigar Kumar Gohil
    Procedia Manufacturing, 2018
It becomes essential to run AGV at a constant speed or RPM in the plant to reduce downtime and lead time. Fuzzy logic controller and PID controller are applied to achieve constant RPM in AGV. AGV contains DC brushed motor with encoder, motor driver, microcontroller and battery. Encoder gives feedback to microcontroller in the form of shaft position. Microcontroller reduces error in the system based on the parameters defined by the algorithms. The first phase of the paper gives brief information about the hardware, software and the algorithms. In the second phase of the paper, methodology for implementing the algorithm to the system is shown. In the final phase of the paper, results and discussions are mentioned based on the applied algorithms. Comparison between PID controller and fuzzy PID controller is also shown. Ziegler-Nichols Algorithms is used to find PID parameters. MATLAB simulink and fuzzy logic tool box are used for simulation. Arduino Microcontroller is used to accept the feedback given by the encoder and to control the speed of motor. In a nut shell, these control strategies help AGV to run at a constant RPM with reduced settling time, steady state error and overshooting.

Proceedings of the International Conference on Inventive Systems and Control Icisc 2017, 2017
Gesture recognition has lured everyone's attention as a new generation of HCI and visual input mode. FPGA presents a better overall performance and flexibility than DSP for parallel processing and pipelined operations in order to process high resolution and high frame rate video processing. Vision-based gesture recognition technique is the best way to recognize the gesture. In gesture recognition, the image acquisition and image segmentation is there. In this paper, the image acquisition is shown and also the image segmentation techniques are discussed. In this, to capture the gesture the OV7670 CMOS camera chip sensor is used that is attached to FPGA DE-1 board. By using this gesture recognition, we can control any application in a non-tangible way.
