Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output–Based Cascaded Boost Hybrid Interlink Converter Shirazul Islam, Atif Iqbal, Seyed Majid Hashemzadeh, Md Samiullah, Ahmed Abbas, et al. International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, 2025 The multiple‐input and multiple‐output (MIMO) DC–DC converters offer various advantages such as improved efficiency and reduced component count. However, the preference of these converters over other types of converters is dependent on the specific application and requirements. Various types of boost‐derived MIMO DC–DC converters are discussed in the literature. However, these converters are either nonisolated or isolated types. In the paper, a MIMO‐based cascaded boost hybrid interlink converter (CBHIC) has been proposed. The proposed converter includes four DC–DC boost converters that are supplied power by two input DC sources. The boosted DC output of these converters can be used independently or in a cascaded manner depending upon the requirement of the load. Further, the cascaded action of these four boost converters leads to the production of two high‐frequency AC outputs. By using bridge rectifiers and high‐frequency transformers, high‐frequency AC voltages are converted into DC. Therefore, two isolated DC output voltages can be achieved using CBHIC. The complementary operation of the cascaded boost converters results in reduction of source current ripples. The design, operating modes, and performance evaluation of the proposed CBHIC have been included in the paper. To validate the efficacy of the proposed CBHIC, a lab prototype of 400 W is prepared. The rms value of high‐frequency AC output voltage at each is isolated port is 141 V. The CBHIC exhibits an efficiency of 94.3 at 400 W. The operation of the converter during voltage control mode is further explored and its dynamic response is studies with the help of experimental results. The obtained simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed converter.
Simulation study of pulse width modulation schemes for three-phase impedance source inverter Mohammad Arif Khan, Shailesh Kumar Gupta International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2022 To avoid a short circuit of the input direct current (DC). source, a 3-phase inverter cannot run two switches in the same leg at a time, and it always operates in buck mode, with the output voltage being less than the input voltage. The Impedance source inverter features a feature that allows both switches in one leg to operate at the same time, and it can operate in buck/boost mode, which means the output voltage can be greater than the input voltage depending on the shoot-through time. In the literature, there are a few pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques for Impedance source inverter control. This research includes a simulation study as well as an examination of existing PWM schemes in the literature, as well as a proposal for TESVPWM for inverters. The inverter performance has evaluated using total harmonic distortion and fundamental components, validating by simulation findings.
Pulse width modulation technique for multilevel operation of five-phase dual voltage source inverters Shailesh Kumar Gupta, Mohammed Arif Khan, Omveer Singh, avendra Kumar Chauhan Journal Europeen Des Systemes Automatises, 2021 To supply five-phase variable speed drives, five-phase voltage source inverters are used. Some of the applications of five-phase variable speed drives are traction, electric & hybrid-electric vehicles, and ship propulsion. Different control systems are available for the controlled output of the five-phase VSI, but space vector pulse width modulation is popular because of its simpler digital implementation. In this paper, the SVPWM schemes have proposed and analyzed for the multilevel operation of a five-phase dual voltage source inverter. The proposed techniques do not contribute a voltage balancing issues such as in multilevel neutral point clamped (NPC) inverters. The author analyzed the performance of five-phase VSI based on THD and fundamental components. Matlab/Simulink model has provided for results verification.
Pulse width modulation switching schemes for two-level five-phase voltage source inverter Shailesh Kumar Gupta, MohdArif Khan, Omveer Singh Revue Des Composites Et Des Materiaux Avances, 2021 This paper proposes pulse width modulation schemes for a two-level five-phase voltage source inverter. According to the literature, the generation of a pure sinusoidal waveform requires an (n-1) number of vectors for 'n' number of phases, so in a five-phase system, a minimum of four-vectors is needed to generate a sinusoidal waveform. The author uses only two large vectors in this paper for a five-phase voltage source inverter. Vector diagram, switching table, and switching waveform have presented for two adjacent large space vectors. The performance for each PWM scheme is analyze based on fundamental components and total harmonic distortion. In last, results have verified in the Simulink environment.
Simulation Study of Time Equivalent SVPWM Scheme for Seven Phase VSI at Inductive Load Shailesh Kumar Gupta, Omveer Singh, Mohd. Arif Khan 2021 International Conference on Advance Computing and Innovative Technologies in Engineering Icacite 2021, 2021 In this article author discuss the simulation study of time equivalent SVPWM scheme for seven phase VSI at inductive load in matlab/simulink environment. Seven phase machine drives are supplied by the seven phase voltage source inverters and utilized in high power applications. To get the desired output, it is necessary to control the output of the inverter. Lots of controlling schemes have been discussed in the past but time equivalent SVPWM has least total harmonic distortion as compared to other PWM techniques. In this paper, author first provide the complete algorithm of time equivalent SVPWM scheme for seven phase then output of voltage source inverter is analyzed on the two basis of indices named fundamental component and total harmonic distortion. Simulation is provided to validate the results.
Simulation Study of Five-Phase Dual Two Level Inverter System using Unified Space Vector PWM Shailesh Kumar Gupta, Md. Arif Khan, Omveer Singh, D. K. Chauhan Proceedings 2021 IEEE 10th International Conference on Communication Systems and Network Technologies Csnt 2021, 2021 This paper presents simulation study of five-phase two-level dual inverter system using unified space vector pulse width modulation scheme with two isolated DC link voltage sources. The switching signals have generated using unified SVPWM to minimize the total switching frequency and total harmonic distortion as an advantage. Proposed scheme removes the limitation of complexity and cost of multi-level inverter by using dual two level voltage source inverter. The proposed scheme utilizes only the large voltage vectors of the five-phase voltage space vector structure of the individual inverters. Simulation results have shown to validate the concept.
