  • Effects of heated block comprised porous stratum and micropolar hybrid nanofluid on convective heat transfer and entropy generation in a square enclosure
    Anil Ahlawat, Mukesh Kumar Sharma
    Heat Transfer, 2022
A numerical study is performed to explore the effects on heat convection and entropy gthe eneration due to porous stratum and heated block in an enclosure saturated with micropolar hybrid nanofluid. Constant heat flux through half of the length of the square enclosure is centrally placed at the bottom wall and the top wall is isothermally cooled while vertical walls are insulated. The Cu‐Al2O3/water hybrid nanofluid is considered a micropolar fluid (MF) with constant physical properties. The Boussinesq approximation is implemented on the density variation and convection within the porous layer is regulated with the Darcy–Brinkman model. The governing nondimensional equations are solved with the finite difference method (FDM). Effects of various key parameters on isotherms, streamlines, local Nusselt number, and average Nusselt number are discussed numerically and analyzed through graphs. The entropy generation analysis (EGA) has been done with local and average Bejan numbers, local entropy generation, and entropy generation numbers. The heat convection from the heat flux enhances with the increase in the volume fraction of the hybrid nanoparticles (), Rayleigh number (Ra), and Darcy's number (Da) while attenuating by increasing the vortex viscosity K0. The domination of the heat transfer irreversibility over the frictional irreversibility upraises with K0 and . With an increase in the porous stratum's thickness, the average value of the Bejan's number enhances, and a decline in the entropy generation number Ns.

  • Mhd boundary layer flow over a cone embedded in porous media with joule heating and viscous dissipation
    Santosh Devi, Mukesh Kumar Sharma
    Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2020
Aim of the paper is to study the Magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer flow over a cone under the effect of joule heating and viscous dissipation. The surface of the cone is cooled and heated by the flowing fluid having constant temperature along with variable heat transfer coefficient. The surface of the cone is subjected under the convective heat flux. The governing equation for MHD boundary layer flow are non-linear partial differential equations, are transformed into ordinary differential equations using similarity techniques. The reduced ordinary coupled equations are solved with Runge-Kutta’s fourth order method followed by shooting techniques. The effects on flow and heat convection of various physical parameters pertinent to the modeled problem are computed and analyzed and shown through graphs. Keywords: Mixed convection, cone, Boundary layer, Joule Heating, Convective boundary condition.

    International Journal of Biomathematics, 2015
The study of pulsatile blood flow through axisymmetric stenosed artery subject to an axial translation has been attempted with hematocrit concentration-dependent blood viscosity. The heart contraction and subsequent relaxation generate periodic pressure gradient in blood flow and translation in the artery can be represented by Fourier series. Numerical data required for computing Fourier harmonics for the pressure gradient and acceleration in the artery has been simulated from pressure waveform graph and biplanar angiogram. Velocity field has been obtained by solving governing equation using variational Ritz method. The hemodynamic indicators WSS, AWSS, OSI, RRT are derived and computed numerically. The effects of thickness of stenosis, and hematocrit concentration index on these indicators are computed and analyzed through graphs.

  • Pulsatile MHD arterial blood flow in the presence of double stenoses
    M. Sharma, P. Sharma, Vinay Nasha
Journal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2013
The hemodynamics provides a way to predict effect of atherosclerosis by means of mathematical models. The pulsatile flow of blood through an artery with two side-to-side axisymmetric stenoses has been considered. A static transverse magnetic field to the flow is taken into account. The velocity profile, Wall Shear Stress and Wall Shear Stress Gradient to the flow have been simulated under the influence of magnetic field for various values of length and thickness of the stenosis. The upstream flow velocity in the subsequent stenosis region is significantly lower down from the velocity in the preceding stenosis region. The flow velocity decreases with the increase of Hartmann number. In the stenosis region wall shear stress (WSS) increases from unstenosed region to maximum thickness of stenosis. The wall shear stress (WSS) increases with the increase of Hartmann number and Womersley number. The WSSG have local maximum value in the vicinity of the throat of the stenoses and oscillates in the stenosed portion of the artery. The magnitude of WSSG is directly proportional to the Hartmann number. WSSG increases in magnitude on the upstream and downstream section of both the stenoses with the increase of Womersley number. Generated data are analyzed and discussed through graphs.
