ABSTRACT Sustainability is one of the significant development paradigms of the present world because of increasing concerns about environmental deterioration. Sustainability depends on the interaction among various social, economic and environmental factors. Thus, the role of people, resources and technologies become vital. Although people, resources and technologies play an essential role in ensuring sustainability, sustainability is impossible without proper policy intervention. Accordingly, institutions become an integral component of sustainability. Humanity has developed common sustainable goals, yet the way to achieve them remains a critical question for policymakers and a major component of political discourse. In this context, this paper revisits the sustainability components of the economic philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi.

Various socio-cultural and religious backgrounds influence the naming of an individual. For example, the Hindu belief system shapes the Assamese Hindu’s name in Assam. In contrast, the Islamic belief system shapes Assamese Muslim names, confirming that the personal name of an individual is a significant attribute of identification. It assists in identifying the individual. Equally, it also reveals the bearers’ socio-cultural and religious backgrounds. Therefore, the name directly or indirectly can affect the personal and social life of the individual. As the name can affect the individual’s life, sometimes an individual has to change their name to enjoy social, cultural and political benefits. This article carefully analyses how the name affects the name bearer and why an individual may seek to change his/her name.

ABSTRACT The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are considered worthy successors of the Millennium Development Goals. Generally accepted as one of the foremost priorities for most nations, the effort is to attain them in a time-bound manner. One important first step toward reaching the SDGs would be to lift people out of poverty and create an environment of socioeconomic empowerment. Achieving economic empowerment of the marginalized social groups through community-based initiatives is very crucial. Many such initiatives have been operationalized in different regions of India through cooperative movements and self-help groups. In this context, we have attempted to examine and analyze the Jharkhand Women’s Self-Supporting Poultry Cooperative Federation in Jharkhand, which is a resource-rich but economically backward Indian state.
