  • Attitude and behavioral intention for using metaverse in education: learner’s perspective
Ruby S. Chanda, Vanishree Pabalkar, and Sarika Sharma

    Emerald
PurposeThis study aims to understand and analyze the aspects influencing students’ attitudes and behavior toward the use of metaverse in education. The metaverse is currently viewed as technology with immense prospects. However, the practice of the metaverse for educational motives is rarely deliberated.Design/methodology/approachTo assess the effect of the metaverse on students' knowledge and use of resources, general interests and attitudes toward the metaverse in education, a survey was conducted. The collected data were analyzed using a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) in the first phase to address the various validity parameters. In the second phase, path analysis of the model was performed using structural equation modeling (SEM).FindingsThe study investigated how students intended to behave while using the metaverse for learning. The attitude toward adopting metaverse as technology is influenced by perceived utility and simplicity of use. This leads to behavioral intention as well. Studies reveal that the aspect of perceived usefulness is considered to be more significant in assessing the intention of use.Research limitations/implicationsThis quantitative study contributes to the literature on metaverse, which is in the growing stage. In the educational sector, the existing studies are scarce; hence, the addition to the literature on metaverse is quite significant in the education domain.Practical implicationsThe study benefits the students and the academicians because metaverse is largely considered an integral part of technology platforms, which has to be included in the learning systems eventually. There are few courses where the use of metaverse is already initiated at an introductory level, thus opening a broad spectrum of opportunities at all levels. It can provide scholars access to a massive array of resources, including multimedia presentations, interactive objects that support the delivery of lessons, videos, images and audio recordings.Originality/valueThis study adds to the existing literature by examining the impact of metaverse in education. The research focused on the students pursuing higher education who were mostly aware of metaverse and were open to the idea of learning and understanding through technology inclusion.

  • Refurbished Medical Imaging Equipment through Technology
Vanishree Pabalkar, Ruby Chanda, and Sachin J

    IEEE
Purpose - the purpose of this paper is to study the market assessment for Refurbished Imaging Equipment through understanding the Technological advancements in the Sector. Design/methodology/approach - Data has been collected from Primary sources and Secondary sources. The researcher applies Factor analysis, Principal Component an analysis and Component Score Coefficient Matrix for the analysis. Findings - Though there is ample potential for refurbished medical imaging equipment market, itis due to lack of confidence in refurbished equipment, healthcare providers prefer not to go for refurbished. Procurement policies of most public and large private hospitals are against use of refurbished medical equipment due to lack of standards and regulations for manufacturing, imports, and sale of new and pre-owned/used/refurbished medical equipment in India. Originality/value - The Statistical analysis from the study will help the Hospitals, Medical Practitioners, in understanding the merits of using a refurbished Imaging equipment that comes with Low cost of Ownership, Higher end equipment in lower budget, keeping cost of diagnosis low.

  • Online and Offline Learning and Evaluations - A Comparative study
    Suruchi Pandey and Vanishree Pabalkar

    IEEE
The Learning and evaluations at post-graduation level has been following the conventional methods. The question is if these methods of Offline learning and evaluations is the right method, since there has been criticism on these methods. The current study discusses the different methods of learning and evaluations conducted through the offline mode and the online mode. The current study has sample size of 307 students where the learning and the evaluations based on the learning has been compared. It was found that the spread is very large in the offline evaluations when compared to the online evaluations, where the data is clustered since the similar kind of resources are used are more or less the same.

  • Exploring the factors that lead to a positive behavior in Indian consumers purchasing a sustainable-fuel efficient two wheeler
Blue Eyes Intelligence Engineering and Sciences Engineering and Sciences Publication - BEIESP
Purpose: INDIA ranked 177th out of 180 countries as per 2018 Environmental Performance Index depicting it one of the most polluted country in the world (The Hindu 2018). Recent research on environmental sustainability suggests that firms' engagement in green values, adoption of a proactive approach to climate change, and emphasis on sustainability are all driven by the need for a long-term competitive advantage. Research approach: This research explores the attitude of the Indian consumers towards sustainability and its affect on their decision making when purchasing a two wheeler. Three hypotheses were proposed to identify the association between certain attitude related variables and intention of buying a two wheeler. The data collected was analyzed through factor analysis using IBM SPSS 20. Findings: The results indicated an association between intentions of buying a fuel efficient two wheeler and attitude, perspective towards climate and willingness to change lifestyle. The study also revealed that three types of consumer segments exist. Firstly, the a ffect of attitude towards sustainability as a determinant of the purchase intention of a two wheeler. Of these three segments, two have a positive attitude towards sustainability and can be categorized as “Wannabe Sustainable” and “Active sustainable” who are aware of the ill-effects of using nonrenewable fuel based two wheelers and acknowledge the role of government and self. However, third segment turns out to be “sustainable ignorers” or “Indulgers”. Research Implications: Implications for marketers to concentrate on Indian consumers and more particularly the younger population for developing sustainability attitude and design a suitable strategy for marketing and product development in the two wheelers market. Originality/Value: The study attempts to ascertain an insight into socially responsible purchase behavior of Indian consumers. It also presents a scope for future studies on consumer social responsibility in rural consumers of India.

  • Implication of technology on economic progress of farmers: A case of India
    Vanishree Pabalkar and Rashmy Moray

This paper stresses the implication that technology has an important role in the economic progress of farmers. Analysis through the structural equation modelling reveals that technology has a high impact on a significant portion of the rural areas. With 150 respondents from the Osmanabad district of the state of Maharashtra this study focusses on two major reasons for adoption of agro technology. The initial schedule contained 116 items on various dimensions of self-motivation, external influences, social development, economic development, economic progress, health, and behavioral aspects. 90 items were retained. Since it is a multivariable study, confirmatory factor analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) are used in this study for data analysis in addition to parametric statistical tools. SPSS (20.0) and AMOS has been used for the same. It has been found that there is a correlation between technology and economic progress of farmers and that health consciousness has increased and the behavioral pattern has changed among farmers in rural areas.
