Development and psychometric evaluation of a stakeholder perception scale of supervisors’ digital competencies for performance excellence (SDC-PE) Ansar Ansar, Arismunandar Arismunandar, Rasdiana Rasdiana, Siti Ma’rifatin, Fantika Vera Entrisnasari, et al. Frontiers in Education, 2026 Despite growing interest in educational digital leadership and supervision, validated instruments measuring supervisors’ digital competencies for their performance excellence (SDC-PE) remain scarce, particularly in developing nations. This study developed and validated the SDC-PE scale through stakeholder perceptions of 318 principals and teachers across 78 senior high schools in 17 districts of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The SDC-PE integrates classical supervision theories (Cogan, Goldhammer, Glickman) with ISTE Standards and DigCompEdu 2.2, yielding four dimensions: Strategic digital leadership (SDL), digital culture promotion (DGC), teacher digital development (TDD), and digital learning facilitation (DGL). Confirmatory composite analysis (CCA) using PLS-SEM demonstrated excellent psychometric properties: factor loadings (0.839–0.936), composite reliability (0.933–0.955), AVE (0.776–0.811), and model fit indices exceeding thresholds (CFI = 0.968, TLI = 0.960, RMSEA = 0.072). Discriminant validity was confirmed through Fornell-Larcker criterion and HTMT ratios (<0.85). The SDC-PE provides educational institutions with an empirically validated assessment tool for evaluating supervisor digital competencies, designing targeted professional development.
The nexus of Nusantara archipelagic cultural values in pupil management and its activities on social harmony through national identity revitalization Dwi Sogi Sri Redjeki, Ali Imron, Rasdiana Rasdiana, Bambang Budi Wiyono, Dedi Prestiadi, et al. Frontiers in Education, 2025 Building on Anderson’s nationalism concept (2006), national culture is essential as it shapes social practices and institutions; however, its complexity arises from internal diversity. This research aims to clarify how Nusantara cultural values are integrated into pupils’ management and activities to revitalize national identity and promote social harmony in Indonesia’s multicultural context. Utilizing a cross-sectional design, data were collected through surveys from 265 participants, including school leaders, teachers, staff, and pupils across ten provinces. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed for data analysis, revealing significant relationships among the variables. The findings indicate that the integration of Nusantara cultural values positively influences social harmony and significantly impacts the revitalization of national identity. Furthermore, pupil management activities grounded in these cultural values enhance social harmony and positively affect national identity, with the latter significantly influencing social harmony. This demonstrates a complex interplay among these elements, where both cultural value integration and pupil management activities are pivotal, with national identity acting as a mediating factor. These results underscore the critical role of cultural values in shaping educational experiences and fostering unity amid globalization. The implications of this study suggest practical strategies for educators and policymakers to enhance cultural integration within schools, preserving Indonesia’s rich heritage while promoting inclusivity. Ultimately, this research contributes to the discourse on cultural education, offering a framework for future studies to strengthen national unity and intercultural understanding in diverse societies.
Elevating Teachers’ Professional Digital Competence: Synergies of Principals’ Instructional E-Supervision, Technology Leadership and Digital Culture for Educational Excellence in Digital-Savvy Era Rasdiana, Bambang Budi Wiyono, Ali Imron, Lailatul Rahma, Nur Arifah, et al. Education Sciences, 2024 The educational landscape has been significantly influenced by the rapid development of technology, especially in the instructional process. Examining teachers’ professional digital competence (TPDC) in Indonesia, a developing country, is of utmost importance. It is vital to comprehend the extent of professional digital competence among teachers to identify potential gaps and areas for improvement through training programs. This investigation aims to shed light on disparities and formulate strategies to bridge the digital divide. In this context, the principal’s instructional e-supervision (PIS) and technology leadership (PTL) play a pivotal role in nurturing a school’s digital culture (SDC). This culture is crucial for ensuring the effectiveness of the collaborative learning process that meets the needs of students in this digital-savvy era. Therefore, this study delves into the structural impact of PIS and PTL on TPDC mediated by SDC. Quantitative methods were employed to address research hypotheses through structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis with AMOS, utilizing inner and outer model techniques. Carried out in seven senior high schools in Indonesia, the research involved 257 productive teachers randomly selected from a population of 450. The findings revealed that PIS directly influences TPDC, albeit with the most negligible coefficient (0.192). Simultaneously, PTL directly impacts SDC (0.663) and TPDC (0.229). Moreover, SDC significantly influences TPDC (0.816). However, the direct coefficient of PTL has a more substantial impact on SDC than on TPDC. Consequently, the structural model suggests that PTL will profoundly influence TPDC when mediated by SDC (0.541). In light of these results, this study recommends the application of principal technology leadership-based humbleness for future research.
How does principal’s instructional leadership shape teacher performance mediated by teacher self-efficacy in Indonesian education context? Elfira, Rasdiana, Fitrawati, Muh Wahyudi Jasman, Kiki Reski, et al. Frontiers in Education, 2024 IntroductionThis study seeks to examine the relationships among principal instructional leadership (PIL), teacher self-efficacy (TSE), and teacher performance (TP) within the Indonesian educational setting, specifically in schools implementing the Merdeka Belajar curriculum.MethodsEmploying a quantitative approach utilizing Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), this research involved a sample of 127 productive teachers randomly selected from 247 teachers. Surveys were administered to measure perceptions of PIL, TSE, and TP, and relevant literature was reviewed to provide theoretical frameworks and research hypotheses.ResultsThe findings reveal significant direct relationships between PIL and both TSE (0.721) and TP (0.598), indicating that strong instructional leadership positively influences teachers’ self-efficacy and performance. Moreover, TSE is found to directly impact TP (0.358), suggesting that teachers’ beliefs in their capabilities play a crucial role in their instructional practices and outcomes. TSE is also identified as a significant mediator in the relationship between PIL and TP (0.258), highlighting the importance of fostering teachers’ self-efficacy to enhance their performance indirectly through instructional leadership.DiscussionThis research underscores the crucial significance of instructional leadership in influencing school culture, which ultimately affects teacher confidence and facilitates teacher performance. By understanding the mechanisms through which PIL impacts TSE and TP, educational leaders can implement strategies to foster a supportive environment that empowers teachers.
