Harnessing Artificial Intelligence and Employee Resilience for Enhanced Business Performance: A Resource-Based and Dynamic Capabilities Perspective Mohsin Javed, Lenka Švecová, Lukáš Danko, Zuzana Tučková Human Behavior and Emerging Technologies, 2026 A hypercompetitive business environment has put unprecedented pressure on business firms to adopt technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). Alongside, AI is being recognized as a strategic resource to enhance business performance. However, less is known about the mechanisms of AI capabilities toward performance‐enhancing outcomes. Drawing on the resource‐based view (RBV), this study explores the role of AI use in the four key organizational dimensions, i.e., supply chain management (SCM), business models (BMs), inventory management (IM), and budgeting toward business performance, along with the mediating role of employee resilience. By employing a cross‐sectional research design and using survey data of 307 manufacturing firms in Pakistan, the analysis was carried out through partial least squares–structural equation modeling (PLS–SEM). Results demonstrate that the use of AI across all four domains has a significant positive influence on business performance. In addition, employee resilience partially mediates the relationship between the AI‐assisted capabilities and business performance, which underscores the crucial role of human adaptive capacity in harnessing technological resources. This study contributes to the theory by demonstrating that performance improvements of AI use are not only from the technological capabilities but also from the employees’ capabilities through efficient utilization of technologies. Therefore, this study advances the literature by highlighting employee resilience as a pivotal behavioral mechanism coupling AI capabilities and business performance. This study offers practical insights for managers to strategically invest in the use of AI along with human‐centered strategies to maximize business performance and long‐term competitiveness.
Do Formal and Informal Volunteering Compete for Engaged Individuals? Oto Potluka, Lenka Švecová, Eva Blahova, Natasa Diatkova Voluntas, 2025 In Central Europe, people trust each other less than in Western European countries. According to the common approach to volunteering, this should also mean fewer volunteers available. Our research examines whether two forms of volunteering—formal and informal—compete for engaged individuals in Central Europe. On a sample of 2,034 respondents from Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, we analyzed by structural equation model on how social capital and human capital influence wealth and time availability in relation to formal and informal volunteering. Our findings show that the two forms of volunteering do not compete but rather complement each other. Additionally, income has a stronger influence on both formal and informal volunteering than time availability. Furthermore, formal volunteering appears to be more sensitive to fluctuations in the availability of financial resources and time among potential volunteers, confirming resource theory.
Unravelling green ambidexterity innovation with green strategic intent: exploring mediation and moderation effects Muhammad Shoaib, Lenka Švecová, Hana Scholleová, Iveta Vozňáková, Augusto Bargoni Journal of Intellectual Capital, 2025 Purpose The knowledge-based economy approach highlights the importance and scale of green ambidexterity innovation. This phenomenon gained substantial recognition globally due to the increasing pressure of ecological forces, stakeholders and competitors. Hence, firms are aiming for an effective execution of strategies to ensure environmental sustainability and drawing on institutional and resource-based view theories by considering green intellectual capital as complementary assets. Design/methodology/approach This study develops a framework that describes how firms translate green strategic intent into superior green ambidexterity innovation through the mediating role of green intellectual capital and environmental knowledge and examines the moderating role of external pressures. The data were collected from 311 respondents representing the ginning and spinning textile sectors. Data analysis was conducted using CB-SEM. Findings The results reveal that green strategic intent had a significant positive effect on green intellectual capital. In turn, green intellectual capital has a positive effect on green ambidexterity; at the same time, it has an indirect effect on green ambidexterity innovation through environmental knowledge. However, external pressure moderates the causal relationship in three levels of the causal path: (1) green intellectual capital and environmental knowledge, (2) environmental knowledge and green ambidexterity and (3) green intellectual capital and green ambidexterity innovation. Originality/value To successfully implement the firm's green strategic intent, managers should develop intangible assets along with tangible resources, particularly in textile firms. Increased investment in green intellectual capital will help firms improve their knowledge of environmental change and seek exploratory and exploitative innovation. On average, strategic intent is viable when it adds importance to green intellectual capital.
Understanding consumer impulse buying in live streaming commerce: a streamer communication style and consumer’s language literacy perspectives Asad Ur Rehman, Lenka Švecová, Muhammad Shoaib, Jaromír Veber, Zahra Maryam, et al. International Marketing Review, 2025 Purpose This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of streamers’ communication styles for e-commerce platforms and the role of consumer language literacy and mediated interaction in enhancing impulsive buying behavior in international marketing via social media e-commerce platforms. Design/methodology/approach This study employs four experimental scenarios to examine the influence of streamer communication styles on impulse buying behavior across different e-commerce platforms. This study was conducted with Chinese beauty brands targeting customers via TikTok Shop to promote their brands internationally. Data were collected through online surveys conducted after each experimental live-streaming session. Data analysis was conducted using CB-SEM. Findings The results indicate that task-oriented streamer communication on traditional e-commerce platforms significantly influences consumer impulse buying behavior, directly and indirectly, via mediated interaction when beauty brands do international marketing via social media e-commerce platforms. Meanwhile, social-oriented streamer communication significantly affects impulse buying behavior on such platforms. Consumer language literacy moderates the relationship between streamer communication style, e-commerce platform type and mediated interaction. Practical implications This study provides valuable insights for marketing managers aiming for international marketing to leverage live streaming marketing activities. It offers live streamers and e-retailers guidance on enhancing customer impulsive buying behavior. Originality/value Although prior research has looked at streamer communication styles and customer engagement in impulsive buying behavior, the influence of consumers’ language literacy, particularly in a second language, as a moderating factor and the role of mediating interaction as a mediator in the context of international marketing of the beauty sector is still unexplored. This study explicitly fills the gap in the global marketing environment of the beauty sector by examining the vital role of consumers’ language literacy and mediated interaction in impulsive buying behavior. It enriches the expanding body of studies on live-streaming e-commerce. From the methodological perspective, this study employed a novel experimental design to address the gap by examining how consumer language literacy moderates between streamer communication styles and impulse buying behavior while mediated interaction boosts the relationship as a mediator.
Do voluntary civic engagement and non-profit leadership challenge local political leadership in urban development? Oto Potluka, Lenka Svecova, Lucie Zarubova Urban Research and Practice, 2023 EU policies support a place-based approach with the increasing role of local partners in political decision-making. The current crisis of formal political leadership raises the question of whether or not formal leadership is becoming dispersed and informal place leadership can succeed in filling the vacuum. Based on data from the implementation of 58 EU-funded Integrated Urban Development Plans in Czechia, we found that informal leadership is challenging formal local political leadership. Nevertheless, its success has been limited in obtaining political legitimacy due to missing dialogue between the local movements and nonprofit leaders when searching for solutions to local problems.

The implementation challenges of zero carbon and zero waste approaches L. Švecová, G. Ostapenko, J. Veber, Y. Valeeva E3s Web of Conferences, 2019 The paper discusses the implementation challenges of approaches with zero carbon emissions and zero waste. Based on the analysis of world statistics of energy sources, environmental policies and plans in the field of decarbonisation and application of renewable energy, the authors highlight challenges and barriers which can be faced during implementation of such plans in the indicated time horizon. Various levels of readiness of countries and global energy players to reduce fossil fuels in energy mix are listed among the main barriers. The paper shows other ways of energy saving, focusing at implementation of circular economy. Based on the results of the Czech Republic experience in the field of circular economy it is identified, that it is slowly embracing the zero waste approach. However, awareness of people and practical applications of new concept of zero waste circular economy are low in business and among the young generation. The practical implication of findings and some recommendations to environmental education and governments are introduced.
The effects of external financial support on the capacities of educational nonprofit organizations Oto Potluka, Lenka Svecova Sustainability Switzerland, 2019 Official development assistance provides an immense flow of financial funding to educational nonprofit organizations (NPOs). This source of funding faces criticism because of the unintended indirect effects it has in lowering the relative level of local NPOs’ capacities. Our contribution addresses NPOs’ financial capacities in an OECD country that receives a vast inflow of EU funding; namely the Czech Republic. To answer the research question on what impact the external financial assistance has on capacities in NPOs, we applied propensity score matching to a sample consisting of 633 educational NPOs covering the years 2006–2013. EU-funded NPOs report higher levels of real revenues, but not real assets, than non-funded NPOs. The EU funding helps in the short-term to improve NPOs’ budgets, but not to increase assets.
