  • Sustaining engagement with digital finance: mobile payment adoption among marginalized women street vendors in an emerging market

    Discover Sustainability, 2025
This study investigates the factors influencing sustained engagement with QR code mobile payment systems (QRMPS) among marginalized women street vendors in India. Drawing on the Meta UTAUT model and Expectation Confirmation Theory (ECT), the research examines how performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, personal innovativeness, perceived trust, and convenience influence user attitudes and satisfaction, which in turn drive sustained usage. The study uses a cross-sectional design and analyzes responses from 566 participants using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results reveals that performance and effort expectancy significantly enhance user satisfaction. At the same time, personal innovativeness, perceived trust, and convenience are key drivers of long-term usage. The findings underscore the potential of QR payment technologies not just as transactional tools but as instruments for financial inclusion and empowerment, facilitating the integration of marginalized women into the digital economy. This study offers unique insights by focusing on an underrepresented demographic and applying a robust theoretical integration, contributing to the growing body of literature on digital financial inclusion. Practical implications include actionable recommendations for policymakers, financial institutions, and technology providers to: (1) develop icon-based and multilingual interfaces tailored to low-literacy users; (2) implement localized digital literacy training through NGOs and women-led self-help groups; (3) establish grievance redressal systems with bilingual support; and (4) ensure offline QR code payment functionality for areas with poor connectivity.

  • Textile-to-Textile Recycling: Technologies, Sorting, and Management Pathways

Journal of the Textile Association, 2025
Background: Choosing an effective textile-to-textile recycling route hinges on three things: Fibre composition, blend ratios, and the finishing chemistry applied to the fabric. With the industry's environmental footprint growing, this review pulls together both mature and next-generation options mechanical, chemical, and biological pathways along with the enabling tools for sorting and separation. We also discuss technologies such as electrostatic separation and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) that aid feedstock identification, wastewater treatment, and material recovery. Methods: We assess mechanical, chemical, and bio-based recycling approaches alongside the infrastructure that allows them to scale high-throughput sorting, reliable Fibre ID, and targeted decontamination. The analysis highlights where these interventions can curb fast-fashion externalities, reduce landfill reliance, and speed the shift to a circular textile economy. Outcome: The evidence indicates that large-scale fabric recycling is a cornerstone solution to the textile waste problem. Broad, reliable deployment depends on coordinated action across the supply chain, supportive policy (including extended producer responsibility), and continuous innovation. Conclusion: To make sustainability the default, the sector must design for recyclability simplifying blends, documenting finish chemistry, and investing in collection, sorting, and recovery systems so material loops can be closed at quality and at scale.

  • Attitude of the investors on investment in colateral securities of cement industries
    S. POUNSAMY, P. MOHANRAJ
    International Journal of Management, 2019
Investment is the economic decision of committing a set of fixed monetary resources with the expectation of receiving a stream of returns over a reasonable long period of time in the future. Since the decision to invest in securities is revocable, investment ends are momentary and investment environment is fluctuating, the reliable bases for reasoned expectation become more and more ambiguous as one envisages of the distant future. Investment is concerned with the purchase and sale of financial assets and an attempt of the investor to make logical decisions about the various alternatives in order to earn suitable return. The present study aimed to know the attitude of the investors in securities of cement industries in major cities of Tamil Nadu.
