My research interest is a combined field of single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy and multifunctional nanomaterials; particularly towards energy efficient solids state lighting technology and develop single-molecule methods to study the catalytic properties with structure-activity relationships of nanoscale materials. Compared with traditional ensemble measurements, the single molecule approach removes ensemble averaging, so that distributions and fluctuations of molecular properties can be characterized. I would like to develop single-molecule fluorescence imaging and spectroscopy, single-molecule FRET, and super-resolution localization microscopy facilities in the chemistry department.
