Integration of S-Wave Value, N-SPT and Soil Bearing Capacity for Landslide Analysis Zul Fadhli Zul Fadhli, Layna Miska, Yurda Marvita, Nur Azwin Ismail, Noer elhidayah Ismail, et al. Iraqi Geological Journal, 2025 The study investigates the landslide susceptibility of the Seulawah Agam road section (KM 75-86) in Aceh Province, Indonesia, a region characterized by steep slopes, high rainfall intensity, and active geological structures. The multichannel analysis of surface waves method was employed to characterize the subsurface layers and determine their geotechnical properties. This research consists of three multichannel analyses of surface waves survey lines with a spacing of geophones of 3 m. The results, combined with borehole data, revealed the presence of weak layers, primarily composed of clay and sandy gravel, with low shear wave velocities (Vs < 200 m/s) and low bearing capacity <200 KN/m2. These layers, particularly those with N-SPT values less than 40, are highly susceptible to failure during periods of heavy rainfall. The findings of this research provide valuable insights into the factors controlling landslide occurrence in the region. These insights can be used to develop effective mitigation measures, such as slope stabilization techniques and an early warning system, to reduce the risk of future landslides and protect infrastructure and human life.
Preliminary Study of Tsunami Impact on Soil Salinity for Agriculture Based on Geophysical Data, a Case Study of Aceh Besar, Indonesia Muhammad Syukri, Sabrian Tri Anda, Rini Safitri, Zul Fadhli, Fiqa Miftahunnisa Hs Malaysian Journal of Science, 2024 The Tsunami, (natural phenomenon) that occurred in Aceh Province in 2004, not only caused severe damage to the infrastructure and human casualties but also altered the conditions of the soil. The change in soil condition led to economic loss (productivity and activity) in certain areas that were affected by the Tsunami. Studies show that the land inundated with Tsunami flood and sedimentation caused the land to become unproductive since the salinity level increased. The geophysical method was used to delineate the level of soil salinity in areas affected by Tsunami. A total of four measurement lines ranging in length from 160 to 210 meters were constructed specifically in Aceh Besar region. In the Blang Krueng District, three measuring lines (K1, K2, and K3) were positioned slightly away from the shoreline and one measurement line was conducted in the Blang Bintang (B1) region to validate the difference between the conductivity values of land polluted with tsunami sediment and seawater intrusion. Results show that the areas affected by Tsunami sedimentation had a greater conductivity value than unaffected areas classified by the conductivity value of 0.06 – 2 S/m and 0 – 0.05 S/m for Blang Krueng and Blang Bintang areas respectively.
Application of Spatial Model the Contribution of Land Subsidence Caused by Palm Oil Plantations Land Clearing to the Escalating Flood Risk in the Trumon Area, South Aceh Regency, Indonesia Dedy Alfian, Ella Meilianda, Ashfa Ahmad, Muhammad Syukri, Aaron Opdyke E3s Web of Conferences, 2024 The Trumon watershed one of critical watershed in Aceh Province had an increase in historical flood episodes during the past 25 years. This is consistent with the expansion of oil palm plantations within the 53,653 Ha watershed basin dominated by peatlands. According to earlier research, changes in land use in peatland regions may cause subsidence. This research looks at the connection between flood events and the subsidence of ground caused by oil palm plantation land clearing. The satellite imagery interpretation reveals a remarkable land use change of previously 5091.25 Ha peatland forest observed in 1995, to become a 13,753.43 Ha palm oil plantation in 2021. From DEMs analysis, those changes are associated with a subsiding land elevation up to 1.23 m. Despite being less than 20% of the watershed area, the land subsidence effect striking change in the watershed boundary, i.e., from only 53,653 Ha to 786,675 Ha which led to an increase in flood inundation from 3,443.04 Ha to 47,924.92 Ha. and flood depth from 0.5 – 1.0 m, to up to 4.0 m. This current situation has made the Trumon area subjected to frequent floods, i.e., from a five-year return period to become an annual event.
