Exploring the impact of generative AI on pre-service mathematics teacher TPACK: a mixed-method study Mailizar Mailizar, Mukhlis Hidayat, Muhammad Syukri, Dyana Wijayanti Discover Education, 2026 Abstract This mixed-methods study investigates the impact of generative artificial intelligence (AI) on the development of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) among eight pre-service mathematics teachers. Over the course of an academic semester, participants engaged with generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, as virtual peer mentors to support lesson planning and technology integration. Quantitative data were collected through TPACK self-assessment surveys administered before, during, and after the intervention, while qualitative insights were gathered via semi-structured interviews. The results revealed improvements in participants’ technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge, with the most noticeable growth observed in pedagogical domains. Qualitative findings highlighted that generative AI facilitated the creation of personalized learning materials, enhanced technological confidence, and supported interactive teaching strategies, although challenges remained in interpreting AI-generated responses and ensuring the quality of AI-assisted resources. The study suggests the potential of generative AI to foster TPACK development in teacher education, while also identifying areas for further support and research.
GEOPHYSICAL AND GEOTECHNICAL STUDY FOR ASSESSING THE POTENTIAL OF LANDSLIDE DISASTERS: A CASE STUDY IN KRUENG SABET, ACEH JAYA, INDONESIA Muhammad Syukri International Journal of Geomate, 2025 This study investigates landslide susceptibility in the Krueng Sabet Lamno region of Aceh Jaya by integrating geophysical and geotechnical methods, addressing a key gap where these approaches are often applied in isolation. The central hypothesis is that correlating resistivity, seismic refraction, and Cone Penetration Test (CPT) data can more accurately identify weak zones prone to slope failure than singlediscipline analyses.Field investigations along the Jantho-Lamno road revealed Silty Sand and Fine Sand layers as potential slip-prone horizons, with CPT data highlighting low-resistance zones and high pore-water vulnerability.Seismic refraction delineated shallow layers, while resistivity models detected low-resistivity anomalies corresponding to water-saturated sediments. From these datasets, three principal subsurface layers were interpreted: Sand and Clay, Weathered Bedrock, and Limestone Boulder. It is emphasized that these interpretations represent subsurface models rather than direct geological confirmation from surface outcrops. Results demonstrate that Silty Sand layers, although overlain by seemingly stable Fine Sands, are critically susceptible under heavy rainfall, groundwater rise, or additional load. The novelty of this study lies in its integrated approach, providing a holistic characterization of slope instability that strengthens disaster mitigation strategies and offers a replicable methodological framework for other landslide-prone regions.
Integration of S-Wave Value, N-SPT and Soil Bearing Capacity for Landslide Analysis Zul Fadhli Zul Fadhli, Layna Miska, Yurda Marvita, Nur Azwin Ismail, Noer elhidayah Ismail, Etyan Wirsya, Layna Miska Iraqi Geological Journal, 2025 The study investigates the landslide susceptibility of the Seulawah Agam road section (KM 75-86) in Aceh Province, Indonesia, a region characterized by steep slopes, high rainfall intensity, and active geological structures. The multichannel analysis of surface waves method was employed to characterize the subsurface layers and determine their geotechnical properties. This research consists of three multichannel analyses of surface waves survey lines with a spacing of geophones of 3 m. The results, combined with borehole data, revealed the presence of weak layers, primarily composed of clay and sandy gravel, with low shear wave velocities (Vs < 200 m/s) and low bearing capacity <200 KN/m2. These layers, particularly those with N-SPT values less than 40, are highly susceptible to failure during periods of heavy rainfall. The findings of this research provide valuable insights into the factors controlling landslide occurrence in the region. These insights can be used to develop effective mitigation measures, such as slope stabilization techniques and an early warning system, to reduce the risk of future landslides and protect infrastructure and human life.
Analysis of extreme weather hazards in Aceh Besar Regency, Indonesia, using a geospatial approach Ahmad Farhan, Muhammad Syukri, Saumi Syahreza, Taufan Hidayat Ecological Engineering and Environmental Technology, 2025 Aceh Besar Regency, Indonesia, as a tropical region, frequently experiences extreme weather events, including strong winds that can have significant impacts. This study aims to analyze extreme weather hazards using a geospatial approach by applying overlay techniques within a Geographic Information System (GIS).The methodology involves mapping slope scores, classifying land cover, assessing rainfall patterns, and generalizing slope classes to generate an extreme weather hazard map.The results indicate that the average area of low-hazard zones per village is 0.198 km, with a standard deviation of 1.057 km, while moderate-hazard zones have an average area of 3.90 km with a standard deviation of 13.59 km.Notably, the majority of villages (88.2%) do not contain significant low-hazard areas (0 km), whereas moderate-hazard zones are more widely distributed across villages.Further analysis reveals that villages classified as high-hazard areas are predominantly located at higher elevations or within transitional zones between lowlands and highlands. The spatial distribution of hazard levels correlates with topographic conditions, proximity to rivers, and land-use patterns. These findings provide valuable insights for local governments in developing data-driven disaster mitigation strategies to reduce the risks associated with extreme weather events.
Geophysical assessment of liquefaction hazards and environmental implications in Pidie Jaya, Indonesia Muhammad Syukri, Zul Fadhli, Haris Saputra, Rini Safitri Ecological Engineering and Environmental Technology, 2025 Liquefaction is a significant geohazard in seismically active regions, causing ground deformation, infrastructure damage, and agricultural disruption. This study aims to assess the liquefaction susceptibility of sediments in Pidie Jaya, Aceh, Indonesia, and evaluate their environmental implications through an integrated geophysical approach combining electrical well logging and two-dimensional (2D) electrical resistivity tomography (ERT).Surveys were conducted in Rhieng Krueng, Dayah Baroh, and Jurong Ara, where borehole logging provided vertical stratigraphy and resistivity data, while 2D ERT sections revealed lateral variability. The results indicate heterogeneous subsurface sequences consisting of sand (0-57 m), sandy clay (0-32 m), and clay (13-750 m), with loose, water-saturated sands confined between impermeable clay layers forming aquifers highly prone to liquefaction.Shallow groundwater depths, averaging 6.8 m, further exacerbate the risk of excess pore-pressure buildup during seismic shaking. These findings highlight critical horizons where soil instability may endanger agricultural productivity, irrigation systems, and rural settlements. However, the research is limited to three survey sites, which may not fully capture the district's spatial variability, and integration with geotechnical and seismic response analyses is recommended. The practical contribution of this work lies in demonstrating that combining electrical logging and ERT provides a reliable, cost-effective framework for identifying liquefaction-prone sediments and evaluating hydrogeological conditions. This integrative method offers valuable insights for disaster risk reduction, land-use planning, and resilient infrastructure development. As one of the first studies applying this approach to Pidie Jaya, it underscores the environmental significance of subsurface heterogeneity and provides essential input for sustainable hazard mitigation in seismically active regions.
Recent developments in the use of geoelectric surveys for in investigating causes of road pavement failure: A case study along Darussalam road, Aceh, Indonesia Muhammad Syukri, Zul Fadhli, Purwandy Hasibuan, Haris Saputra, Rini Safitri Ecological Engineering and Environmental Technology, 2025 This study aims to investigate the lithology of rocks along the Cot Iri Darussalam route to identify the causes of road instability to reduce risks and ensure public safety. The research employed geoelectric resistivity methods, using an ARES resistivity meter for 1D soundings and Geotitis for 2D profiling with a Wenner-Schlumberger configuration.Data were processed with Res2Dinv for 2D inversion and Ipi2win for 1D modeling to derive subsurface resistivity distributions. Results show that Line L1 has resistivity values ranging from 0 to 508.36 m and Line L2 from 0 to 173.56 m, while the 1D soundings (SP1-SP5) range between 1 and 299 m.The lithology consists of wet clay, clay, sandy clay, and sand, with clay-rich layers dominating and interpreted as the main weak zones due to their impermeable and water-saturated nature. These layers, combined with high rainfall, poor drainage, uneven traffic loading, and micro-vibrations from vehicles, are considered the primary causes of road instability in the study area. The study is limited by the number of profiles and the absence of borehole validation, which restricts the precision of lithological correlation, but it highlights the necessity of integrating geophysical and geotechnical approaches for more accurate interpretation. The practical value of this research lies in its contribution to road maintenance and rehabilitation planning in alluvial environments, offering a scientific basis for identifying subsurface weak zones before infrastructure construction. The originality and significance of this work stem from applying resistivity methods to characterize lithological variability and weak layers in an alluvial setting, thereby filling a knowledge gap in understanding road instability mechanisms and providing insights for more resilient transportation infrastructure development in Indonesia.
Preliminary Study of Tsunami Impact on Soil Salinity for Agriculture Based on Geophysical Data, a Case Study of Aceh Besar, Indonesia Muhammad Syukri, Sabrian Tri Anda, Rini Safitri, Zul Fadhli, Fiqa Miftahunnisa Hs Malaysian Journal of Science, 2024 The Tsunami, (natural phenomenon) that occurred in Aceh Province in 2004, not only caused severe damage to the infrastructure and human casualties but also altered the conditions of the soil. The change in soil condition led to economic loss (productivity and activity) in certain areas that were affected by the Tsunami. Studies show that the land inundated with Tsunami flood and sedimentation caused the land to become unproductive since the salinity level increased. The geophysical method was used to delineate the level of soil salinity in areas affected by Tsunami. A total of four measurement lines ranging in length from 160 to 210 meters were constructed specifically in Aceh Besar region. In the Blang Krueng District, three measuring lines (K1, K2, and K3) were positioned slightly away from the shoreline and one measurement line was conducted in the Blang Bintang (B1) region to validate the difference between the conductivity values of land polluted with tsunami sediment and seawater intrusion. Results show that the areas affected by Tsunami sedimentation had a greater conductivity value than unaffected areas classified by the conductivity value of 0.06 – 2 S/m and 0 – 0.05 S/m for Blang Krueng and Blang Bintang areas respectively.
The implementation of conductivity data in delineating liquefaction zone in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar, Indonesia Sabrian Tri Anda, Muhammad Syukri, Zul Fadhli, Mutasar, Fiqa Miftahunnisa Aip Conference Proceedings, 2024 Earthquake is classified as one of the most disastrous catasthropes regarding casualties and environmental damage. The earthquake itself can act as an agent for another hazard to be occurred such as soil liquefaction phenomenon. The research regarding the delineation of liquefaction zone in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar has been done by implementing 2-D geoelectric measurement (conductivity data). The study is considered necessary since the tectonic activities in Aceh Province is quite active. The study identified that the two locations of the study area have a high probability of soil liquefaction phenomenon to be occurred indicated by conductivity values of > 0.3 mS/m. The conductivity values of > 0.3 mS/m describe that the layer is in saturated condition due to seawater intrusion. Moreover, the irregular morphology and abrupt change in conductivity values, as well as a saturated layer, lying below a thin layer with low conductivity values, indicate that the area is susceptible to soil liquefaction phenomena.
The calculation of saltwater discharge at shrimp pond, Southwest Aceh, based on geoelectrical data Zul Fadhli, Muhammad Syukri, Sabrian Tri Anda, Yurda Marvita, Moehammad Ediyan Raza Karmel, Khalif Alfaiz, Patra Embara Aip Conference Proceedings, 2024 Southwest Aceh Regency is located on the west coast of Aceh Province. Due to its nature as coastal area, the locals establish shrimp farm business as one of the main economic activities. However, the process of making shrimp farm or ponds require complicated steps, especially on providing salt water as the main habitat for shrimp. The salt water must not be contaminated by waste often found around the sea surface. In order to study the availability of salt water as a habitat for Whiteleg shrimp, this research was conducted by observing the aquifer layer, along with its type and discharge. The identification of this aquifer layer is carried out by applying the 2D resistivity method, Wenner-Schlumberger configuration with four survey lines. The result of resistivity cross section displays the thickness of the aquifer, the type of aquifer and the carrier layer. Based on the field measurement data, the salt water discharge was calculated using Darcy's Law. The cross section shows that in line 1 there is an aquifer at a depth of 10-35 m with a resistivity value of 0-5 m. Line 2 aquifers are located at a depth of 10-39 m with a resistivity value of 0-5 m. In general, the aquifer is located at a depth of 10-39 m and has thickness of 29 m. The carrier layer is categorized as a sand layer with a confined aquifer type. Based on the calculation, it was found that the salt water discharge was 13.6 liters/second.
Application of Spatial Model the Contribution of Land Subsidence Caused by Palm Oil Plantations Land Clearing to the Escalating Flood Risk in the Trumon Area, South Aceh Regency, Indonesia Dedy Alfian, Ella Meilianda, Ashfa Ahmad, Muhammad Syukri, Aaron Opdyke E3s Web of Conferences, 2024 The Trumon watershed one of critical watershed in Aceh Province had an increase in historical flood episodes during the past 25 years. This is consistent with the expansion of oil palm plantations within the 53,653 Ha watershed basin dominated by peatlands. According to earlier research, changes in land use in peatland regions may cause subsidence. This research looks at the connection between flood events and the subsidence of ground caused by oil palm plantation land clearing. The satellite imagery interpretation reveals a remarkable land use change of previously 5091.25 Ha peatland forest observed in 1995, to become a 13,753.43 Ha palm oil plantation in 2021. From DEMs analysis, those changes are associated with a subsiding land elevation up to 1.23 m. Despite being less than 20% of the watershed area, the land subsidence effect striking change in the watershed boundary, i.e., from only 53,653 Ha to 786,675 Ha which led to an increase in flood inundation from 3,443.04 Ha to 47,924.92 Ha. and flood depth from 0.5 – 1.0 m, to up to 4.0 m. This current situation has made the Trumon area subjected to frequent floods, i.e., from a five-year return period to become an annual event.
