This study aims to analyze the macroeconomic factors that influence renewable energy consumption (REC) in Indonesia using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag model, and to forecast its future trajectory through 2030 under a business-as-usual scenario, with reference to the targets of SDG 7. Using annual data from 2000 to 2023, the study identifies four macroeconomic determinants: population, economic growth, non-renewable energy consumption (NREC), and technological innovation. In the short-run, REC is significantly influenced by its own past values, population, economic growth, and technological innovation, while NREC demonstrates a delayed but positive effect. In the long-run, population has a negative impact on REC, reflecting Indonesia's continued dependence on fossil energy sources. In contrast, economic growth, NREC, and technological innovation contribute positively and significantly, suggesting a gradual but constrained transition toward clean energy. The forecasting results indicate that REC in Indonesia may reach approximately 17.4% by 2030, still falling short of the 23% national target set for 2025, leaving a persistent gap of about 5.6 percentage points. These findings underscore the urgent need for stronger policy reform and increased investment in green technology and infrastructure, particularly to close the 5.6% REC gap.

The concept of an inclusive financial ecosystem is crucial in enabling microfinance institutions (MFIs) to effectively serve small-scale businesses. This study examines the complexity of Indonesia’s microfinance ecosystem by analyzing MFI performance in relation to collaboration and competition, and assessing the role of support systems in serving micro and small enterprises. Surveys and in-depth interviews were conducted with MFIs in West Java, South Sulawesi, and Maluku. Findings show that performance gaps between rural banks and MFIs are driven by differences in institutional capacity, outreach, and human resource quality. Rural banks (BPR/BPRS) and micro units of PT Pegadaian and PT PNM demonstrate superior performance through low non-performing loan (NPL) or loan default rates and high profitability, indicating ecosystem deficiencies. With limited collaboration among microfinance players, government micro-credit programs have created imbalances in competition between banks and MFIs, reinforcing disparities. The gap is further exacerbated by inadequate governance support systems—such as deposit insurance, apex institutions, and credit bureaus—burdened by high operational costs. This study offers two recommendations: redesigning microcredit programs to enhance collaboration between MFIs and banks for balanced competition, and strengthening the role of local governments and community institutions as support systems for prudent MFI practices.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play an essential role in global economic development, contributing significantly to employment, innovation, and national GDP across both developed and emerging economies.Regardless of their significance, SMEs face several challenges, including a slowdown in growth caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, intense competition among producers, and limited adoption of e-based solutions. Therefore, applying digital technologies has become essential to enhance the productivity and performance of SMEs.Despite the burgeoning systematic literature review on digital transformation and Industry 4.0, it predominantly focuses on large enterprises and often overlooks the strategic responses of SMEs.This study offers a novel bibliometric synthesis that not only maps the intellectual landscape of SMEs' digital transformation but also concentrates exclusively on the digital transformation of SMEs that is directly aligned with the core pillars of Industry 4.0.Using 510 articles retrieved from Scopus and analyzed with VOSviewer and R Studio software, the findings reveal five key clusters addressed by SMEs over the past decade. These five clusters are business model and competitive advantage, business performance and digital marketing, digital entrepreneurship and digital innovation, business model innovation, and big data analytics.

The paper aims to analyse the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on microfinance institutions (MFIs) and identify mitigation and adaptation measures to cope with the situation. An online survey and focus group discussions were employed to capture how far the COVID-19 pandemic affects MFIs’ business. The results show that MFIs’ performance is negatively affected due to the COVID-19 crisis as their major customers, micro and small enterprises (MSEs), have experienced a contraction. MFIs have implemented several mitigation and adaptation measures to cope with the situation and future shocks. These results provide an overview of how far the COVID-19 crisis affects MFIs which can help the government design policies that can support MFIs and MSEs to survive. However, some issues related to methodology, such as the inability to capture complex and profound information, survey monitoring, and response rate, influenced the analysis so that the research may lack generalizability. Thus, a more holistic methodology is needed to investigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic comprehensively.

The patent is one indicator of a country development. Patent information contains information of sciences and technology. Based on patent data, there are significant differences in the number of patents between Muslim and western countries. This makes the existence of Muslim countries dependence on technology from western countries. Utilization of patent information online can be one way to encourage Muslim countries in improving the capability and competitiveness.
