He holds a Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1994) and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the International University Center. He holds a Specialist certificate in History and Philosophy of Science, a Master's degree in Law (LLM) from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1996), and a Doctorate degree in Law (JSD/PhD) from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2002). He also holds a Doctorate degree in History (PhD) from the Federal University of Uberlândia - UFU (2019).
He is currently a professor in the postgraduate programs (Master's in Law) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) and São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP). He is also a professor in the postgraduate program in Biofuels (Master's and Doctoral levels), a joint program between the Federal University of Uberlândia and the Federal University of Vales do Mucuri e Jequitinhonha.
